I'm gonna bitch

I'm so mad, I dont' even know where to begin. I know it's not aviation related, but I had to bitch to somebody.

Okay, got this today from my publisher. It's the cover for a print release due out this April. Does he look black to anyone but me? He's not supposed to be. His color is not an issue, he's a gorgeous man and one of their models. Unfortunately, the hero in this book has long platinum blond hair and is white.

Am I missing it? Am I not holding my head right? Or is the light not hitting it correctly? No matter how I look at it, HE'S STILL NOT BLOND!

It's too late to do a redo without pushing the release date back and I'm so pissed. Are they smoking weed when they do this stuff? The authors fill out a form, describing in great detail what the hero and heroine look like. What's the point of filling it out if they're not going to read the damn thing!!

I'm just at a complete loss.

what a fiasco! I can see why you are furious! Will they compensate you for the mistake? I assume there isn't a "stock" pict that could be uses? Couldn't they photo shop some blond hair in there?

Hmmm, not that it eliminates the mistake on their part, but can the publisher include some sort of errata page indicating the flub w/ the cover art being inconsistent w/ the main male character?

I'm going to put something on my website about it. I'm afraid when people look at the cover, they'll mistake it for an interracial romance and it's not.

Oh crap- that's a BIGGG error! I would be pissed too.
The guy on the cover is very good looking, but that's irrelevant.
People will be reading the book and then take a look at the cover and go "huh?!".

I think, if I felt the way you do about the cover (which I'm pretty sure I would), I'd have to suck up the delayed release date. Unless it's going to hurt financially, that is.

As a reader, I remember often looking at the cover of romance novels and trying to compare the guy on the cover to the guy inside, and they rarely matched.

However, they rarely MISmatched as much as your cover and the description of your character.

I would, but this book is set to release specifically for the Romantic Times convention in Pittsburg in April, so I can't delay it. But i did decide to go over the cover department's head. Keep your fingers crossed...
