| In Idaho you don't have to declair a party. but if you went to the cacaus you sign a pledge to vote in Nov. it was that first time in 28 yrs that we had a democrate cacaus the counted, (usually in the spring) it was the big news maker around here, some of them went for 5 hours! our rep. poll is still in may and doesn't make a difference in the national convention.

| In Georgia it was an easy process and my choice won! You could vote in either primary by checking a box declaring yourself one party or the other. I think it will end up being McCain and Obama. Tonya |

| We voted in S. Carolina a few weeks ago and my vote went to Obama. When you register to vote in S. Carolina you don't indicate a party. There was a Sat. date to vote for the Rep. and the following Sat. was a date to vote Dem. Obviously you could only vote at one event, but it was your choice when you wanted to vote. It absolutely amazes me how different it is in every state. You would think something as important as a vote for the President of the US should be standardized throughout the country. A vote should equal one vote not delegates, super delgates etc... (It just doesn't make sense to me!) |

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | Apparently North Carolina's is later...from what I understand...I'm registered Rep with New Mexico and was rootin for Bill Richardson...and when I moved here, I think I'm still registered as a Rep...but that is definitely going to change!

Now I am just thinking about more things that pissed me off about voting... For one thing, I always go vote, when ever I can... and when I moved from WI to CA I was angry to find out that I had to register ahead of time... In WI, it was so easy, all I had to go was go over to my local polling place, register, and vote... Plain & simple... It was easy! In CA, I have to register ahead of time, and pick a party if I want to participate in the primary... WHY!? I want to be able to vote for who ever I want at the time, and I didn't register for any particular party because I didn't want to! Oh, and I don't like the stupid computers, I liked filling out the form by drawing lines... not turning a dial if I want to write someone in... I don't know how the other Californian had the option to vote for a presidental candidate in the primary, but I couldn't... Okay, I think I am done now...? | Jetgirls Ol' School Member | Not that it matters for this primary since its over, but since you registered independent, you were permitted to vote on a Democratic ticket or a non-partisan ticket (just state and local issues). It wasn't readily advertised. I learned about it on NPR. So when I went to my polling place, I was prepared to ask for a Democratic ticket, but they asked me which ticket I wanted before I had the chance. If you're in CA for the next meaningful primary, poke around a bit and see what you can learn. I know this primary was unlike previous ones. Normally independents can never vote on a party ticket in a primary. |
