| Admin/Owner ![]() | ![]() I am sooo frustrated. I've had an oily face everyday for at least the past month and i don't know what to do about it. I'm not sure if it's the Tri-luma or sunblock or lack of astringent or makeup that is causing it. I usually get a slight oil problem in the summer from the heat and sweat.. but never during the winter and never this bad (i seriously look like i'm pouring sweat from upper nose to chin... It's all in the whole "T" zone area...but it's driving me banana's cuz i have to take a powder puff and buff my face like every 2 hours. I use proactive as a cleanser and never had the problem this bad...haven't changed makeup so i don't know if maybe it's the makeup causing it or what not. but does anyone know how to fix it and dry this puppy out? ![]()

| Have you tried a daily scrub? Sometimes, if you overmoisturize, it tends to make you overproduce oil. Has your diet changed or are you abnormally stressed? What about those facial wipes that you keep in your purse for blotting your t-zone? Could you call your dermatologist's office and talk to the nurse to see if this is a side-effect from the medication? while you are on the phone, she might explain some things you can do to combat this or at least advise you to what lotions, creams, make-ups to use or to avoid. Oh, isn't someone on here an arbone consultant? Maybe they might have some make-up or cleansing advice for you. Good luck, Kristie. I am going through the pregnancy breaking out right now, or I should say, I was going through it and it is now clearing itself up. It stinks. I feel like a teenager again, but at least now, I have more self confidence about it than I did when I was young. ![]() |

| Admin/Owner ![]() | I go back to the dermatologist next friday...but figured some of ya'll would have some ideas. I already "scrub" everyday cuz proactive has those exfoliating beads in it but the one thing i really don't do anymore is moisturize.. i've taken the moisturizer out and am substituting sunblock instead... my diet has changed, but i think for hte better.. i'm not eating nearly as many fats, exercising just about everyday, so i would think it would get better but who knows.. maybe because my metabolism is up, it's also up elsewhere... i wear powder foundation.. switched from liquid over a year ago so facial wipes would just take it all off which i definitely can't do during the day. haha i'm waiting to get my face more corrected (need to work on dark circles) before i can stop wearing makeup.. i'm almost there tho ![]()

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | I feel like one of those adults that is doomed to have acne and oily skin for life. I have an oily T zone that is prone to break outs and dryer cheeks. Given what works best for my oily skin I suggest NOT skipping the moisturizer. If you're bent on having some SPF on your skin (which is a great idea, I do it too), I suggest getting a facial moisturizer w/ SPF in it, as opposed to full on sun screen. The facial moisturizer w/ SPF will be lighter and very likely non-comodogenic (won't clog pores). I have noticed extreme differences in my skin when I do and do not use moisturizer. If I do moisturize, my skin is fully hydrated and my oil production is way down. Its kind of like my skin says "hey, we're plenty moist here, no need to produce excess oil." When I do not moisturize, my skin goes into overdrive and produces excess oil to overcome the drying effect left by my cleanser. Perhaps that logic isn't quite right, but that's what works best for me. Another tip I've taken to lately is to wash my face w/ honey ... that's right, honey! Honey is a natural anti-microbial (cleanser) and a natural humectant (promotes retention of moisture), meaning it'll contain your skin's natural moisture rather that drying it out and resulting in more oil production. Most people think you need to dry out oily skin ... but for me, the best remedy is to moisturize oily skin so that your oil production can cool it!! Good luck! |

| Admin/Owner ![]() | hmmm so maybe tomorrow i'll put the sunscreen on AND moisturizer and see how that works. it does make sense that hte skin would produce something more if it feels its not moisturized enough.... I'll also double check with my dermatologist and then put his answer on here for ya'll Thanks for the ideas gals!!

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | I was having the same problems as you, Kristie, and I use a combination of Proactive and MD Skincare products. In the mornings I do the Proactive routine and then use this stuff: MD Skincare® Product Detail: All-In-One Tinted Moisturizer Sunscreen SPF 15: Light It's an all-in-one moisturizer, sunscreen (although spf 15 probably won't do enough in AZ) and a tint. I love it! At night I use MD Skincare's Daily Face Peel: MD Skincare® Product Detail: Alpha Beta® Daily Face Peel: 30 Applications I never had problems with my skin until the last few years and I've tried just about everything. I really liked the Proactive, but it was drying me out too much and making me oily at the same time... I think the balance of the benzoyl peroxide in the a.m. and then salicylic acid in the p.m. has worked well for me. Everyone's skin is different, though... hope you find something that works! |

| If you are exercising and eating more healthy, perhaps this could be your body's way of getting rid of toxins or something? I know a few people who went through periods of night sweats, skin issues etc while on fasts or GI cleansing diets and supposedly, this is how the body helps "clean" itself according to holistic thinking.

Also, If you're using sunscreen on your face, it shouldn't be the same sunscreen you put on your body. Same with any kind of moisturizer. A lot of facial moisturizers you can buy have an SPF in them anyway... so, I would recommend using one of those. Hope that helps! ![]()
