Talking Will you meet your goals?

I figured this would be kind of fun as an "end of the year, look to next year" type of thing to do...

Looking at the thread where we have all typed in our info "you guys wanna play" under the Meet Your Jetgirls Family forum.. I typed the following:

Quote:
4 places you would rather be right now
1. Germany
2. Somewhere COLD!
3. In my favorite bed sheets
4. Sitting with Peaches (my youngest cat) on my chest snoozing

4 things you hope to do this year
1. Successfully pass my AICP exam
2. Visit Africa, South America and Russia
3. Get 2nd career off the ground
4. Quit my day job
The question i'm posing is...did you accomplish your tasks and enjoy the 4 places you'd rather be?

For me, I've gone to Germany several times this year... had peaches put me to sleep (A LOT!)...it's now chilly in Az and i'm LOVING it...so all is good on that front.

As far as my tasks:
I did get to visit Africa.. haven't yet hit South America or Russia... Russia is now at the bottom of my list considering what dh has told me (since he went there this year) and their visa requirements...South America is next after Asia...

I did quit my day job for a while (actually, more like got laid off, but whatever, it's all the same) and it's been absolutely awesome...wish i could do this everyday but i know i need to bring some denero into the bank account too.. haha

Am still working on getting the 2nd career/business off ground and altho i took my AICP exam, i haven't passed it yet...now that i know what to expect, i also now know what to study for...

so my next year's goals:

4 things you hope to do in 2008
1. Pass AICP exam, become Sr. Transportation Planner II
2. Visit Africa (again), Asia, Antartica and South America
3. Get 2nd business up and running
4. Pay off all debt (except for home equity since we're going to refurb backyard)

Strangest thing happened with this thread...I created it about 2 weeks ago but for some reason, it has a july date attached to it. weird...very weird...but i figured i'd put it back up near the top since the new year is fast approaching.

I'll have to check out this bug!

4 things you hope to do this year

1. finish my biology degree...i have been on the 6 year college plan...
2. get more toned...run a 1/2 marathon...or better yet, a marathon...
3. put a huge dent in my debt...
4. communicate more...and cherish the relationships i have with people...

Hmmm, let's see...
1. YES!!! I just graduated Dec 15 2007!!!!!!!!! WOOHOO!!!
2. Eh, I was doing good, and still exercise, but not as much I would like to......and sadly no 1/2 marathon...
3. Well, I almost have one card paid off, which is good for me! hahah, but I hope to really cut into them this year...and get my car paid off...
4. Yes, I have really worked on this...I have finally figured that 'issues' won't get solved if you keep them all bottled up...my relationship with BF is wonderful!

NEW 2008 Goals!!!
1. Take the GRE, and do good! hahahahaha and apply to many grad schools regardless of what the requirements are, it doesn't hurt to try...Right now, I am just really hesitant because I do not quite meet the requirements, but I figure if I take some post=bach classes I can easily get in...
2. Run my 1/2 marathon, and as many 5ks in the CLT area...I run fine on the treadmill, I just need to get off my butt and hit the outside world...
3. Travel with/without the BF to cities I have never been too...I'll have the spring semester off, so plenty of time...again, to some degree I am independent but need to really bust out of my shell and get moving, time flies by quick!
4. Volunteer more...I have been given many oppurtunites by so many people, it's a shame to not share the wealth...

4 things you hope to do this year
1. Finish cleaning out Dad’s house & sell it
2. Continue to be healthy & lose more weight
3. Take our vacation next month (Ireland, England & Scotland), but also do an impromptu trip to Paris sometime
4. Get engaged (okay, so that isn’t something that I have a lot of control over, but I hope it happens!)

Wow, I accomplished only ONE of those things - and that was to take the vacation!
#1 - Cleaning out the house is a tremendous task, and I've decided that I'm going to hire professional help in the spring. My dad was a packrat, and the place is not only crammed full of junk, it's also extremely unsanitary and full of mold because of the leaky roof he never fixed. Next year I absolutely HAVE to get it done, because part of the proceeds from the house are going towards a downpayment on our house in PA.

#2 - I've done my best to "be healthy" by eating better, but with the stress I've been under with school and not having the time to exercise has ruined the "lose more weight" part. It seemed like we were doing a great job until we went on vacation…after getting back, I don't know what happened! We're going on a cruise in March, so we are both determined to lose everything we gained back.. Starting New Years, of course. I'm going to try to get to bed earlier and try exercising in the morning. I absolutely DETEST getting up early, but I'm going to try it for something new. One of my coworkers goes running at lunch and invited me along, but my knees and ankles can't take the stress.

#3 - Yep, we went on our vacation… and I would say that although the Paris weekend was planned, we didn't know until the week before whether or not Brian would be able to make it.

#4 - No ring yet, of course! I'm taking that off my list for next year, since it's not a goal that I can really accomplish on my own. According to him, he wants to do it next year, but who knows. He wants me to be surprised, so if I were him, I would do it before then.

Here are my new goals:
1. Graduate with my associate's degree with at least a 3.8 gpa and be accepted to a 4 year institution somewhere in the Lehigh Valley area.

2. Buy a house with Brian in the Lehigh Valley area.

3. Become healthier by reducing stress, getting more rest, eating better, and exercising.

4. Begin the process of having my armband tattoo removed. (I like the other 3 that I have because they're inconspicuous and they have more meaning - rather than being 18 and thinking it would be cool)

Cassie: don't forget to put your 2008 list in there... it'll help you keep on track if you didn't make your targets this year!

4. go on a trip w/ fiance`
Hmmm, well, I filled out that original thread only a few weeks ago (mid-November), so I'm going to make those goals stand for 2008 (or at least November to November).

I think I can get them all. #1: The wedding will be October 2008. #2: I'll get to OH for Christmas this year. #3: I should be able to do this w/ flight bennies. #4: I hope to do this once fiance` settles in on the line a bit more.
