Yesterday morning I get a call from my mom at 5 am. She says that there is an alligator in my yard and not to let the kids ouside until the game catchers get it. No joke. A 6 foot 6 inch alligator was in my front yard. We do not live near water; we actually live in a golf course community. I guess it is mating season or something. My hubby took a pic on his phone that I'll have to post. Anyway, it walked across the street and sat on the neighbor's front porch until they caught him. There are a lot of kids in oir neighborhood. So, what surprises me about the whole thing was that neighbors were yelling at the catcher not to hurt the poor alligator. This thing could have hurt somebody...being on my front lawn, and the fact that my kids wake at 6am, and their granny lives right next door; it may have been my kids.

When we called the authorities to have him removed and put in Lake Jessup, but they told us that since he was not really a threat because of size, they would not get him. He ended up being somewhat domesticated because of everyone feeding him. He LOVED bread, hated turkey bacon, lol!

Maybe it is because I am from up north, but I can't stand the things. Big or little, they are germ man-eating animals to me. I guess I have just watched too many movies! I thought it was illegal to feed wild alligators? They are fun to look at, but not in my front yard. When we first moved down here, I was told to just expect that there is one in every body of water. Not that there is, but don't think there isn't. We use to feed the ducks at our ponds and lakes up north, but now, I am scared to let the kids feed the ducks anywhere close to water! I miss the days of taking walks around the ponds and not worrying that there is an alligator watching every move so that they can jump out of the water and swipe one of my little ones, take them back into the water, etc., etc. Man, do I have an overactive imagination or what? You can definetly tell I am not from around here! ![]()

Here's a pic of the game catcher when the alligator walked across the street. He looks pretty tiny, but still not something I want to have in my front yard. He was 6 feet 6 inches.
