Default Genealogy?

So I am getting into genealogy, but I don't know much about how to do it. I was wondering if any of you know or have some good tips? I found my grandpa's WWII enlistmesnt info on ancestry.com. The thing is, I need to do some detective work into my ancestors and ancestry.com seems to be better for if you already know the names, b-day and death date of the person. Maybe I am just doing it wrong Any help would be appreciated!

If you are just getting started check out the following site. It is free and is really easy to use. There is also a section dedicated on getting started. Hope this helps.

I have found many extended members for my own family and that of DH's. Good Luck although be forwarned that this "hobby" becomes quickly addicting. Good Luck!

I would LOVE to find out my ancestors...with the Navajo culture being passed through the mothers side, it really get's confusing...we are based on clans, and it really just gets confusing...and with the governments involvement 'way back then' names and records were often madeup...good luck...
