I like how Carmen really tried for years and yrs to keep her true identity going while married to Yeslam, Osama's distant brother. He was something like number 12 in the sibling line. She and her husband spent many yrs living the western world, doing extravagent things, and jet setting here and there. Then one day they decided to move to Saudi to be part of the family business.Yeslam was the brains of the family and knew how to make money. What pure hell it was, but she did everything she could to not really change, enough to make her husband happy, and her husband was okay by that, for a while. Then he became sick with doifferent ailments, so he thought, became paranoid, had affairs. She struggled with family members with how she was raising her daughters.
The way she tells the story really keeps you interested. You get pissed, you laugh, you feel sad for her and the girls and when you do close the book and look up, you feel glad that you can walk out your door and take a deep breath of fresh air.

I read many of the same authors... I think you should try Patricia Cornwell.. she writes books about a medical examiner named Dr. Kay Scarpetta... Robin Cook is another good one, he writes a lot of medical mystery/drama books... although I wouldn't suggest reading "Marker" in the hospital, lol. Hmm... Ooh! How about Dean Koontz - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia? His books are impossible for me to put down! I can't pick one book of his that is my favorite, but Fear Nothing and Seize the Night are two that I really liked.

That's all I've got!

I love Patricia Cornwell, especially since I went to college in Eastern Virginia. So I've read all of her stuff (although her earlier works were better in my opinion). I think the Robin Cook books would be a little to scary in a hospital setting, and I find Koontz to disturbing overall -YIKES! But I think you're right. If a new Cornwell book would come out in a week or two, I'd snap it up!

I think I'm going to go with the bin Laden book. I think that will be a good comprimise although I'm looking at the DeMille book Seatclutcher suggested. I read the one after it recently and really enjoyed it.

I'm a big bookworm, I just don't get much time to read anymore. I finished one of Patricia Cornwell's books (Unnatural Exposure, I think it was) over the weekend (that I must've started a few months back on some other trip)... it reminded me how much I miss reading for pleasure!! You're right about the local connection - it makes reading more fun if you know the places that she's talking about.

You're right about Koontz... his books can be a little disturbing, especially when you're home alone at night!

I'll have to try some of the books that others have suggested. I'm always looking for a new author!

The Eyre Affair, the Eyre Affair, the Eyre Affair!
It's just marvellous, I've been recommending it to everyone I know! By a guy named Jasper Fforde. Kind of mystery, time travel, literary detectives stuff, funny and thoughtful, romantic and utterly sucks you in! Really excellent, can't say enough about it!
If anyone else has read it, I'd love to know how you found it!
Oh, and good luck with the birth...!
