oh, I didn't mean the company ran that site; it is a public forum....not raby the company. thanks for the info though...all the technical issues of computers and running sites is too complicated for me....and yes, there has been plenty of drama here lately to begin it's own tv show.

I'm not questioning you at ALL Kristie, incase it sounds like that, just pointing it out for others, I've never said anything in PM that I wouldn't be able to deal with if confronted about, and I've been on a board where PM reading was a normal thing for the admin to do.
really? I'm out of the loop on that then, maybe i need to get more into the loop? I can't imagine anyone would be ok with admins or mods reading their PM's, so i've never seriously looked into it. Been working with VB for, what, almost 4 years now so i haven't had the need to look and see what other boards have/are doing also...but anyways, if it was ever added into the stand alone version of VB, i would tell ya'll so at least you're informed. It wouldn't be cool of me to have a feature like that and not mention something.

Michelle - since you do visit boards where admins can get into the PM system, what's their purpose for that?

I don't really see a need for Administrators getting into their members' Private Messages unless there is like an investigation into some kind of crime... (god forbid)... lol

I don't go there anymore, but it was done for gossip. Another board I go to has the capability, but the admins would never do it. But still, from the experience of knowing it's possible on almost any board I've seen, I've always remembered that when PM'ing, just out of habit, not because I have anything to hide or not admit to, but it's just in my mind to remember that all of the internet, including PM's and emails and even password protected blogs, can still be somehow accessed by others.

Someone told me once that if you don't want anyone and everyone reading something, than don't write it down. It wasn't in reference to computer things, but just the fact that whatever you write down is your permanent signature and that it could come back to haunt you.

Yeah, that is true. I think of the journal I had as a teen....oh boy!!! LOL. I'm going to have to go through the stuff I've written down and get rid of what I wouldn't want my kids to find after I'm gone...that includes some certain pictures too! LOL.

that's a really good point!

I've already learned thru friends to never do "those" types of pictures cuz at some point, it's bound to be on the net, esp if you break up....ick!

Yep...sooner or later things come back to haunt you. Right now, I am haunted by my skinny pics....ha ha. No, really, not that I have always followed that advice, but I look back and think, "I wish I would have followed that advice!"
