Default Suggestions???

I am in the process of re-doing my resume. I want it to really stand out and be eye catching.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I am a department manager at a credit union right now. I want to move into an assistant branch manager at a bank.
I could use all the help I can get.
Thanks!

Toss in a naked picture.

My two cents. . . keep it simple. Whenever I see a huge, detailed, overblown resume, I wonder what the person is trying to compensate for. Just put what makes you qualified and make sure the grammer and spelling are correct.

Substance over form.

Hi Woman 99,

I work for a company that consults professionals on preparing resumes, coaching for interviews, etc. I can tell you what the conventional wisdom is… though you might find it a bit boring.

For anyone in banking, a strictly conservative resume is usually suggested. The only time it is advisable to submit a “creative” or “artsy” resume is when the candidate is working in design or fine arts.

You want to set your resume apart, yes, but the best way to do this is to be concise. Make it clear, clean and logical…

Best of luck to you!

keep it simple! one page with related experience listed....Arial font...

-> Dates
-> Company
-> location
-> Title
-> Experience Description

it just needs to look professional, not creative...the information listed on the resume is what's going to *speak* to people..

I use 100% linen for the type of paper and i keep all of the experience related to the job i'm trying to get.. so they understand exactly what i can perform for their department.

If you want to see how mine is, let me know and i'll email it over.

Not to raid the thread, but I also have a resume question. I've used a template to do my most recent one and can't seem to get rid of the template lines. They don't print of course but when I email the document they are still there. Is this a no no? And if so, what do I do about it?

I have been speaking to some friends who are HR professionals and was told that depending on your age or if you have a lot of experience, it is OK to have 2 pages. Of course 1 is better, but if the 2 pages is necessary it won't "count against you".

True? False?
