| I know how you feel because it happened to me once, with the exception that the thief had a knife and made a nice cut on the back of my neck and threw me against the side of the car bruising a major portion of my body. I had my keys in my hand fortunately, so all he got was my handbag. If I had the presence of mind, I would have jumped in the car and ran him over. But I didn't. But it's scary knowing that someone has your accounts, driver's license and knows where you live! And you are so right that all this happens the moment they leave for a trip. The water heater breaks, the neighbor's tree falls through your house and the car only breaks down when they have just left. Heck, we went away for a few days and, the first day, our son called and told us that two bolts fell off his calipers (that DH replaced last week). Fortunately, he had the presence of mind to jack up the vehicle, remove a remaining bolt and walk to the auto parts store to match it up with replacements. I'd be panicking! |
