So, doug picked me up yesterday at the office cuz my car was again, in the shop (painters - maaco - didn't do the ENTIRE job, so for practicality sake, i took it back and had them "finish" what i paid for). Did not expect what happened and we were all pretty shocked... the guy that is on TN status is even more worried than I am.. heck, i'm safe, can find a job anytime i need to (i suppose) and he's got to find one right away cuz otherwise his status goes invalid. I feel for him and for some of the others that have kids and/or major bills... doug and I have built up a great amount of savings which will keep us financially stable for a bit. Remember - always prepare for a strike.. rainy day fund.. or sickness...you don't always prepare for lost job but because we have rainy day/strike fund accounts, we have a safety net. I actually have my first interview this morning. I think our CEO was so upset about the board overruling his vote that he spent part of the morning talking to folks and after overhearing a couple say "they need help", some of us have the opportunity to start interviewing asap. Believe it or not, the phx office was our CEO's favorite and even he might leave the company now... altho, i'm not really inclined to believe mgmt all that much after all the bS the past few years... but anyways... so the plan is to just go to the interview, see what help they need, see if it matches my needs and then spend the afternoon with doug...no real plans other than that today.. i'm still seeping in the fact that i don't have a "structure" yet. one thing at a time i suppose.. altho i am thinking of filing for unemployment just to take the company to the bank for a bit....is that the right thing to do?! Roz, you are so right about all the "stages".. we went out for a beer last night and i had so many emotions going thru me.. happy, sad, worried about my coworkers/friends who need to find work worse than i do...even heard a few songs that made me feel like i just broke up with my boyfriend (you know.. those types... haha)...and right before leaving, we were all exchanging numbers/emails and it felt like the last day of HS...haha very very weird....it's one thing to be out there looking to better yourself.. it's completely different when your forced into the position. I never thought i'd see a day like this (honestly!). Oppita (Dana), that's a great idea..i think i'll put that on my growing "list" hahaha

It IS completely different. It's like you're going along, all la-la-la, and then someone sneaks up from behind and gives you a giant wedgie, steals your snacks, kicks you in the back of the knees and then runs away laughing and YOU have to pick up the pieces and wonder what the &*#@ just happened. At least that how I felt when I got furloughed (both times!). | |

| OMG!! What a bomb drop!! Are you going to be ok? I agree with those above. If you can, take some time and see if you can find some passion before heading to the next job. Good luck. |

in the meantime, i'll create of list of to do activities and do at least 5 things (or more) everyday to stay on track...who knows, maybe i can find a job that will allow me to take a few months off before starting...so that's my first task (besides filing unemployment & getting 401(k) and esop figured out).

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | You're in the "why me" stage now, Kristie. But you have to go through the stages. If, after you file for unemployment (which you should be doing right now on the computer!), and get your business in order, you should set aside some time each day (scheduled) to focus on yourself. There should be time spent on your physical well being as well as your future financial well being. This will mitigate the scared phase that comes next because you know that you are doing something about it. So, you need to eat and take care of yourself. You need to exercise to have energy and feel good about yourself. Think of it as, your job is to find a job--the right job. Then you need to work on your resume. Remember that Linkedin I invited you to two years ago? I got a job offer from that site. Peruse the job boards, professional societies. Just start getting a feel for what's out there. Tailor your resume as needed. If there are professional societies that meet, consider going to the meetings and networking. I didn't read the AZ requirements that I sent you, but some states require you to keep a log of jobs you apply to. I called you yesterday. Call me back when you want to talk. |

| Admin/Owner ![]() | ok.. i've been looking up unemployment things as we speak.. and what *exactly* do they mean by willingly accept suitable work?! does that mean that i have to accept any type of job i *can* do?! or do i get to look for the job that will work for me?! yes, AZ does the job log as well as enrolling you in a job database. seems like a lot of work for a range of $60-240 per week (lots lower than my actual salary). oh, but i did forget to mention that i have 21 hrs of vaca to use and 3 weeks of severance (due to my length at the company).. most of the other guys only got 5 "DAYS" of severance...hearing THAT - sucked! you called yesterday?! was that you in the 215 area code?! ![]()

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | If you are offered a job in your field and it's not a burden (ie much lower salary, a great distance from your home, etc) and you turn it down, you are ineligible for further benefits. Yes that was me! |
