In just two days I've noticed that the gas prices in my area of NC have dropped to 2.89. I hope this price reduction continues, these prices are ridiculous!

I know! It's crazy how that works...and in SC you get to buy fireworks...July 4th time I kept looking for stands so I could get some sparklers...and lo-and-behold, NC doesn't sell them, apparently you have to go to SC to get some...but this morning driving pass BP in Concord, I think it said $2.99..

Just to make you all feel lucky - yesterday, I paid 95p a litre for my fuel! There are 4 litres to a US gallon, so - that's £3.80 a gallon, so about $7.60 a gallon! I think....

Do you girls do a lot of driving or do you use other means of transportation? ie walking, biking??

Goodness with those prices the kids and I would be walking everywhere. Like little mules- I would just pack stuff on them, groceries, whatever...they can help carry the load.

I drive to work - I fill up my tank about once every week and a half - costs about £40 a time, so about $80. We generally have cars with smaller engines here, and cars are becoming more efficient all the time, so we can go further on less fuel - although it is very expensive anyway! My car's a bit old, and I'm going to replace it with a diesel Citroen, which costs about 6p a mile - not too bad...

As for other methods of transport - within London I walk, take the bus or the tube. I take the train in to central London when I want to go out - but that's more because of the central London congestion charge (£8 a day!). I used to cycle, but I don't think it's very safe in all that traffic.

I wish our public transport was cheaper. If it was, i'd use it more, but in many cases, it's still cheaper (and more convenient) to drive.

My best friend (who lives in Denmark) explained that she rides her bike everywhere (regardless of the weather). She understands that we aren't able to ride bikes everywhere, not only because of distance issues but also safety issues.
Also, European cars are required to have much better fuel efficiency than what our vehicles have.

In Sweden I was riding a bike...partially because of the fuel price and partially to get some exercise..

In Madrid, the bike issue is impossible..I would get myself killed in couple of days...no cycleways as we have in Sweden separated from normal traffic..

So I get a motorbike instead...much more fun...mine "eats "around 6 liters per 100 km...and we have a car as well..but we do have in Madrid a great and cheap public transport network ( busses, subway, trains), I prefer to walk.. I live 6 km from my office and usually switch between motorbike and walking ( and I tank around 15 liters a month)..my BF, he uses the car , but no so much so we can feel it...for now the car is more parked at the airport than running ..guess who is lucky...
And I don´t think people here actually think about the fuel price...because we have a traffic jam all around the city ...jijiji
