| ladies I need HELP. Since DH is in training and the pay sucks, we both decided to cut back on extras...I elected to give up waxing. I know waxing isn't a luxary for most of you, but a LIFESAVER for me. Anyhoo, I am doing ok doing all the face stuff myself, and have gone back to shaving my legs,BUT I am having a terrible time with shaving the bikni line. I break out, I itch and it seems to be someting I have to do every day! ( oh I miss the 6 weeks of clean w my wax). I have tried everything I can think of, and right now I am using a antispecit for ingrowns (same thing I used with waxing) and a cortison cream for the rash and itching, but I am still suffering! What do you do? is there anything that gets rid of the rash? My sectary tells me that my skin will get tougher with time and it won't be as bad. But what do I try in the meantime? ![]()

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | I've heard a few people that swear by this product but I've never used it myself: Amazon.com: Coochy - Shaving Creams / Creams, Balms & Aftershaves: Health & Personal Care For myself, and since we're just being sooo open here lol...I just use a trimmer set to 1, so it doesn't go all the way to no hair, but it's still trimmed w/o the rash and ingrowns and itching. |

| Jetgirls Plus Member ![]() | They sell a cream for the bikini line to prevent any ingrowns (that's the 'rash' you're talkng about). The best way to prevent it is always use a good/new razor. Use a shaving cream too- not soap. Dull razors and using soap causes irritation.

| My irritation has gone down over time. I refuse to do it every day, though (ouch). Those creams being recommended sound good. Now now that we're going somewhere beachy and every day shaving is almost essential (swimsuit), this is another one of those things I wish I'd known about yesterday! ![]() OH! Another thing! I'm using a super-duper disposable man razor, lately - I saw it on TV and went, "Oooh!," and later got one in my Christmas stocking. It's orange and black and has a little button to make it electric (battery operated). Makes shaving there - anywhere, really - absolutely painless.

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | I've used both the Coochy shaving cream and Bikini Zone Anti-bump shaving gel - Buy Bikini Zone Anti-Bumps Shave Gel Online at drugstore.com Like Amanda said, the best thing for me has been using a new razor... others have mentioned that they have to shave every day, I'm the same way. I try to cut it done to once every other day, but if I go too much longer, it can kill the life of your razor blade. I usually change mine at least once a week. Waxing (in that area) scares me, I've only had it done once and I think the woman worked in an S&M dungeon in her spare time!! ![]() |

razor bumps suck...but over time, it stops occuring because the skin gets tougher...I only shave there once a week, maybe every other week...i don't even do my legs everyday. heck, they're in pants all day, nobodys going to see them... doug may call me "grasshoppa" every now and again, but i don't mind it, it's still better than shaving everyday! hahaI don't know of any products that take away the razor bumps completely but doug does have some pretty nice razor bump lotion that he gets at CVS for his ingrown stubblies on his face. Black men are known to have more ingrown facial hair so he's always having to deal with that. There are razor bump type shavers out there as well as creams and lotions.

| Aloe, fresh from the plant or gel in a bottle from the HF store will help soothe; keep it in the fridge and apply cold. I agree w/the other gals on a fresh razor and shaving cream instead of soap. Oh, cold pressed virgin coconut oil is WONDERFUL anywhere from hair to toes, all natural and obviously emollient...it will soak right in. Oatmeal also makes a soothing anti itch application for the bath or to make a paste out of it. Tea tree oil is an amazingly quick healing and antiseptic too. If you're super sensitive you might dilute it slightly. This won't help now, but something you can look forward to as you get older is: 'that' hair, as well as underarms and legs don't grow as fast or as dense as it once did. Here's another advantage of your DH being away for awhile: you can take a break from shaving. |
