[quote=Kristie;34711] razor bumps suck...but over time, it stops occuring because the skin gets tougher...I only shave there once a week, maybe every other week...i don't even do my legs everyday. heck, they're in pants all day, nobodys going to see them... doug may call me "grasshoppa" every now and again, but i don't mind it, it's still better than shaving everyday! haha

Ha! Grasshoppa! I love it! I've kind of gotten lazy with DH gone so much that I'd only shave my legs when he came home or I couldn't sleep with the brillo pad between my legs. However, when shorts season came, 2 yo ds said, "Momma, legs pokey! Need blankie!" and got a blanket to lay on my legs while we read books. Who would've thought you'd need to shave for a 2 yo!?

Magic Shave!

$0.89 at Target. Found in the ethnic care aisle. It's a depilatory formulated for black men's beards (ie.wirey, corser hair). I first heard about it watching an interview with Nina Hartley, who is a porn queen and also and R.N. I've been using it for years, each application lasts about 4-5 days for me.

It comes as a powder that you mix with water and leave on for 5-7 minutes. Then you scrape it off with a spatula and rinse. It never burns unless I get it a little too close to the delicate areas.

I never thought the number of blades would make a difference... but I tried a razor that had 4 blades and was AMAZED at the difference between it and a brand new 3 blade. My hair grows in all different directions down there, so it's hard to not have a tiny bit of stubble without risking cuts/scrapes. But the 4 blader was able to deal with the directions without problems and very rarely will I have ingrowns. I just have to do it every other day or the pricklies come back

Kim, I really like the Magic Shave idea - have you noticed if it matters how coarse the hair is?

I remember watching an interview with some female swim champion and someone asked about shaving. She said good razor, good cream and go against the growth for legs BUT ALWAYS shave WITH the growth for bikini line.

I'm going to look for that magic shave...(the people in that biz have to know what they are talking about) I use a man's razor with 4 blades so I thaink I am doing the right thing there. I just don't think that I am cut out to be a shaver! waxing is tough when you first get going, but it gets soooo much better. I am shaving one more time for the pool then I am headed in, sorry can't take the "itch" anymore. I am going to the lady who I started with, she is cheaper, but man she is touchy! and a little rougher, I wouldn't recommended her for a newbie, but she fast and does it over my lunch hour. By the way I'm not sure that it is ingrown hairs, I get those, even with waxing, this is full blown skin inflamation the steriod cream helps alot, but I have to use it every few hours or else it comes back.

Well, I've never tried it on anyone else. But I've heard good things about it in a magazine review so it must work on a wide range.

After the time is up, you have to kind of scrape the mix off and the hair comes off with it. I usually use the backside of a tablespoon measuring spoon to do it, but any flat, firm surface will work.

Kim, I got the magic shave, I got it a walgreens and it was 2 bucks, anyway IT WORKED GREAT! I was a little worried (I'm still broke out from shaving) but it didn't burn at all and it took off the hair, I used a dept-store keyring card for my scrapper. Thank you so much for the tip!
