Default New hair color...

Anyone else doing anything to their hair recently? I'm starting to go darker believe it or not. and it's just because my roots are becoming darker and i'm not liking the way everything is "blending" as it grows out.

it probably doesn't look "as dark" if you saw me in chicago but that's because i did have some blonde streaks put in *for show*...

<--- so, whatcha think? i'm wondering if i should go even darker in the fall to try and mesh more or if i should stay a blondee...

come to think of it, looking at the photo, it's kinda hard to tell anything's different.. so i'll try a new photo via sunlight tomorrow and see if that don't work betta.

If you think darker hair would look right, I say go darker! If you've been blond for a long time and you go dark, you'll probably have fun feeling different for a while. Then, if you start to hate it, go back!

I'm not good with skin coloring and knowing what looks best with what, but it usually turns out that the natural hair color is at least close to good-looking (I'll probably 'enhance' my own hair forever with a few highlights or a slight color change just because I get bored. And because dirty-blond is inherently dull. Kristie, you saw it as red - it just does that. I used brown coloring, trying to get rid of the blond I had and get as close as possible to my natural color. When I use brown, hair goes reddish).

What's your natural color?

Uh..Kristie... I think it looks the same as I remember. It's hard to tell hair color from an online pic!

I was going red for a while but the shock of going from a $70 double process to my hair color in PA... it cost me $250!!!!... was a shock.
I went back last week to have her touch up my roots and she pretty much took all my highlights out. My hair is now a dark brownish red/auburn. It's nice but a bit dark.

Red is a pain to keep in! Plus my hair grows so dang fast I get roots in a few weeks.

honestly, i can't figure out my natural hair color because it used to be a dirty blonde look (which i just NEVER liked) and now, the roots are really DARK! I've gone full dark brown before and nobody liked that so i'm thinking i'll always have some type of blonde streak thing going on. hahaha

as far as i know, my hairstylist said i'm a color 9....but we typically color it up to a 7 or 8 (color chart wise). what that really means? i have no clue. haha

oh i like...but darker would look good too! the most i ever do it cut it...i have jet black hair, that is full and shiny, so i think i'll leave it...although my past hairdresser always wanted to put fiery red streaks, because it would "look saucy!" ooo, i did chop off 5 inches and added bangs! hahaha ( SO not adventurous!)

Kristie, I went to Cosmetology School and was even licensed for a while (I HATED IT) but I do know a couple of things...

Ask her again about the colors. 1 is darkest, like a Black and 10 is the lightest, like a really like blonde. I'm naturally a 6 and color down to a warm 2 because I naturally have very defined black eyebrows. So if you're naturally a 9, which is very light and color to a 7 or 8, you would be going darker?!

I like you're hair though!

Good Morning;

It's difficult to know how accurate these photos of you show your color, however, I see one post w/2 photos of you. The one on the right is a little darker, which I personally prefer because it doesn't look so washed out; your skin coloring is already fair so a little depth would be beautiful, adding more contrast.
The color also looks to be neutral to ash & your complexion looks a bit pink; am I correct?
'Warming' your color up would be very attractive for you, allowing your eyes to brighten, or 'pop', as I like to say, and it would be a compliment to show off your beautiful skin. If you decide on this you will benefit from changing up your make up a bit to coincide w/the new color.
I see this darker hair on the bottom ... I take it this is hair color as well?

As your roots begin to show, what color are they? You say you don't know your real color; look at your eyebrows...looks to me you are prob a level 7:dark blond. Not being strange...just makes sense...you might check 'down there' in your private garden. Of course that will naturally be somewhat darker because it is not exposed to the elements which tend to lighten your hair...this is why hair is naturally darker underneath than on top where it is exposed to more sunlight/oxidation.

If you were MY client and wanted my expert opinion for your coloring, I would assess your personality & lifestyle to ascertain the most satisfying results. How do you see yourself? What is your current hair goal?
I have successfully been a practicing cosme-therapist ;-) for 25 yrs: I.E. "Hair done, heads shrunk, spirits lifted."
I am current because I stretch myself with up to date training.
I love the outcome of the chemical process & styles that enhance the appearance; It's really exciting to see the results and smiles of my clients. 'Transformations' are refreshing and uplifting. Color is a great perk when done properly. If not it can be a ghastly disappointment.

BTW: I know virtually nothing about 'box colors' as I only use professional products so I will not be able to advise on which store bought products are best. I do know that these applications usually run one shade darker than they indicate. It is always best to err on the side of being lighter than you expected rather than too dark, which is obviously more difficult to remedy if you're displeased w/the outcome.

Good Luck and Happy Hair Days.
Oh, and it's Father's Day so I hope your DH is able to enjoy it hopefully by being there or a wonderful call from his beloved girls...YOU and your darling daughter.
D

Hi! I can't tell too much from the pictures, and I dont' know much in the realm of hair color except that I too am blonde. My hair can get sometimes just way too light in the summer. I had my stylist put some lowlights in last year, and let me tell you.. going just a bit darker made my skin and eyes look a lot better. Its' funny how your haircolor can do that. So, I'm a big supporter of occasionally changing it up a bit and going a little darker when you've been blonde for a while. Sometimes you just need a change! And hey, if it makes other things look good too... : )

you know what i like about jet black hair?! you can put reds and pinks in and people don't "freak out", my hairdresser has jet black hair and she put some bright pink streaks in it which looked totally awesome!! but really, it just looked like she'd been in toyko and went mainstream with the color! haha
