i just wear a cap and even tho apart of my hair gets wet, it doesn't all get wet (most of my blonde is on top anyways).... plus, i always wash my hair after swimming to get the chlorine out.

I did go to the pool tonight and did a good 40 minutes in there. I need to figure out "how" to swim correctly tho and might take some lessons cuz i can just tell i'm not doing it right.. whenever i practice my stroke and add foot movement, my legs/feet tend to not propel themselves fast enough to stay afloat (if you know what i mean?)...but i get a great workout on my arms if i don't add foot power. I just know your not supposed to do it that way.

hey...kristie, i am in that same boat with you...i can't really "swim" like incorporating the arms and legs...so this, summer i have been insprired to take some lessons...and was asking BF if they have adult swim lessons becuase i didn't want to be in a class with a bunch of 6yr olds...(they might show me up!)...

hahaha...thanks for the inspriation to swim...good luck on day..., umm...what is it...10? now? 9?...hmmm...

Day 9:

Didn't work out so well... with doug being home (for the day only), we decided to have a steak, some wine and then after that, i got a hankering for a coffee. so, i'm blaming today on "splurge day", i just wish i could have had the day off too! hahaha

tomorrow, back to the pool.

Day 10:

made it out to the pool...got 40 minutes in and boom, toe cramp... in fact, both my feet started flaking on me, so i got out and headed home. I even ate a banana before leaving work (probably about an hour before pool time). guess the banana thing doesn't really work. oh well, onto the next trial...haha

finally got some goggles and they worked great!! now, onto learning how to breath right while swimming right.. haha

slowly, this swimming thing is getting better and easier. with the goggles, i was able to get more laps in BUT i had a really hard time trying to figure out how to breathe sideways without swallowing icky pool water!!

I think i actually have to go into work for a little while tomorrow which royally sucks!!! but the sooner i get this dang project out of my hands, the better! I'll tell ya one thing, i'm getting really REALLY tired of dealing with everything at the office...it's time to start getting my next career on the move. that is for certain. how, i just don't know yet.

In order to breathe during freestyle (some people call it front crawl), you have to kind of roll your body from side to side, while lifting the arm up. It would be easier to show than tell, I'm sorry! The best I can explain it is... while lifting your arm, your body needs to roll to the side enough to get your mouth out of the water.

Does this make any sense?

And another thing.. feel free once in a while to have a splurge day. Us girls deserve it once in a while!

yea, it makes sense.. only problem is when i roll, my arms slow down in motion (in order to get enough air) and then my whole head comes out of the water.. do you make it so it feels like there's weight at the top of your head to keep your head in the water?

so are you supposed to take air every 2 strokes or 4 strokes?

well, i've lost track of days... i think i'm on day 12 altho it seems like more days than that since doug is halfway thru his training. i think i actually started this blog a little too late and should have counted the days since day 1.. but oh well, whatcha gonna do?

Anyways.. weekend wasn't too bad. got part of the "movie room" organized so that we can make a movie room out of it. i need more storage area, that's for sure.. just not sure where i'm gonna get it or find it.

went for sushi last night with my hairdresser, we're becoming fast friends as she doesn't have any here and our personalities tend to mesh pretty well together even with her being 10 yrs my junior.. hell, who cares...it's all in the attitude of which that's just how i am, feel about 10 yrs younger than i actually am. but anyways, we hung out and talked for 5 hours... i can't remember the last time i sat there and talked to someone for THAT long...it's definitely been a while.

anyways, i got to the pool on friday...also went today.. still cannot seem to get the breathing thing down and it's making my stroke suffer so until i can take some deep water lessons, i might just go back to how i was doing it before as well as trying to integrate to the standard way of swimming..i just want to make sure my workout doesn't suffer. i didn't go to the pool on saturday cuz i knew it'd be hella busy, but i did get on the elliptical and am proud to say i went 30 minute straight with NO stops. I was pretty darn impressed with myself. i must be learning how to better control my stride.

tomorrow, i'll do the elliptical or treadmill cuz monday's are usually very busy days at the pool and since i'm still not that strong of a swimmer, i don't want to share a lane with anyone considering i just might piss them off with how so and unsteady i am. tuesday and thursdays will be pool days. one major cool thing about the pool is that i'm getting a nice tan going...altho i think i'll have doug check out a few spots on my back and see if it's something to worry about or not.

really not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow. i've been having more ibs symptoms at work and i know it's completely stress related now because 3 weeks in a row.. i have symptoms at work.. none at home...it's just obvious...i need to get my "other" career up and running! almost have the business plan done but i get distracted fairly easy i think. enuff that i'm not finishing it and it's bothering me, not getting it done and moving along. but that's just a whole 'nother topic and i can't be worry about tooo much. right now, it's to getting this stupid work deadline done which royally sucks because amanda and i have to rearrange our trip...*sigh* gawd how elated i would be if i could just walk in, pack up my things and say "see ya". there'd be no love lost on my part and i'm sure they'd kick my ass out the day that i put my notice in cuz that's just how they treat people nowadays (no care in the world for how much you "gave" the company)....but for now, i'll deal. anyways, i'm going thru all my catalogs right now (they just keep piling up..might as well get er done!) so it's back to finishing that task.

on a better note: doug has aced all of his checkrides so far...systems he said was the hardest with the FAA examiner for 2.5 hrs...tomorrow, i think it's the maneuvers checkride which is all sim related, then late next week (he gets 2 days off), he starts the ER (international) portion of the training and then he'll be done with that and onto IOE. from what i understand, he has to actually do 4 TOE segments and one domestic IOE.

if I recall.. for competitive swimming, you are encouraged to breathe the least amount that is possible.. but try at least getting two strokes in between every breath.

I may sound like a moron, but what is IOE? My boyfriend has it in a month or so and I've already asked him a few times what it was and forgot.

Kristie you might want to try a digestive enzyme to help with the IBS feelings. All that stress could be upsetting your digestive system and not allowing you to function properly. You can get some for about $13 at GNC or other health stores. Have you seen any success yet or is it still too early? Pants looser, lost weight, etc.?
