Angry Crappy employer

So I have told you all how I hate my job so much, but it got worse today.

Since we are moving, I gave my work 2 weeks notice and they found someone to take my job. She doesn't know anything about the dental field, and knowing things like teeth numbers, are pretty important to know when doing what I do (which is pouring and trimming models, incase any of you know what that is). She won't be able to do the entire job by herself for probably a month at least. Also, since I had to train her, she was slowing me down so much it was taking me 3x as long to get the same job done. She also has a medical condition that prevents her from driving after dark, so she can only work until 8pm or so, when I was there until 2:30am sometimes.
So she tells me she is moving to fairfield, which is where my parents live, and is a good 45 minutes away from where my work is. She says "well its good money for a college student" and i say "how much are you making?" I only asked because what i make isnt like wonderful, I didn't think it would be work a 1.5 hour round trip drive just for that. so she says "$XX.50 an hour." and when my mouth dropped open, she said "why, how much do you make?" and I told her, which is .50 LESS an hour than she told me. she was like "really??" yes.
So to make a long story short, this girl who doesnt know an upper from a lower, a right from a left (in terms of mouth, not actually left and right), with NO formal training and NO idea how to do ANYTHING and shes making MORE than I am.
Lets recap MY experience. I have worked at this place for almost a year, I have called in maybe once, I get my work done, and I don't even have health insurance through them (since this is a small company, it saves them money). I also went to school for 2 years for this EXACT thing. I also JUST got a raise a month ago, otherwise she would be making $2.50 more than me. I just dont understand!!!

So I was supposed to finish some work tonight, then come in over the weekend and finish the rest, and then that would be my last day. I was so mad that I went outside and called my mom and dh and complained to them, then I went back in and talked to the poor girl I scared to death. I explained that I wasn't mad at her, then I told her what a**holes they were at this place, and I'm pretty sure I convinced her to go elsewhere. Not that I want to screw her over, but that I want to screw THEM over. So we talked for a little bit, then I left a note saying I was sick and I had to leave. I get paid for the last week (thurs-wed) tomorrow, so after I get that I think I am going to leave my keys and not come back.

I have kind of screwed them by not having the work done tonight because they won't have anything to do tomorrow (they work on what I do the night before). I left a note just in case I get a nice streak and decide to finish the work this weekend, which is unlikely, but also because I want to make sure I get my check. This is not the first time they have not been the nicest people to work for. They are all about themselves. They buy new cars all the time, and take trips, but tell people who ask for a raise that there isnt enough money. I am just so mad at their attitude!

I could go on a few more paragraphs but Ithink this is a long enough book. Kristie if you are bored at work again, here is something to keep you reading for a while! haha

Thanks for letting me vent, I feel better.

Yeah, it is a joke. There were a few people still there (90% work during the day) and I was talking to them and they understood. The place just has no appreciation for their employees. The owner just got out of jail last year for tax fraud... if that tells you anything. My mom does payroll for a nursing home company and she said they could take my check down to minimun wage, which isnt far from waht I make unfortunatly. I think that might only be her company though. I'll still have a few hours on this next week, so hopefully they will send my check to me. I talked to my friend at work and she said they all think I am coming in this weekend. I only wish I could see their faces when they walk in Monday morning. (really this will only set them back like 1 day, but they have a tendancy to FREAK out over nothing, so I'm sure it will be chaos on Monday)

So I have another question. I don't want them to think I am just being lazy and leaving, so I plan on leaving a note and letting them know why i didnt finish the work. The only thing is, I don't want to get the new girl in trouble when she first starts since she told me how much she makes. So I am juggling being nice to a girl I hardly know, and letting my employer know why I left and didn't finish my work. So should I tell them or should I spare this girl?

Thanks for your input, dh and my mom aren't really any help unfortunaty, and a friend at work says I shouldn't say anything.
