| Admin/Owner ![]() | Movies made in the 1920-1950's show the military as being a proud, disciplined team and they make the military look like a good team to join, you know, the have professionalism and they get the girls! but the movies that are out now a days are all about shooting, killing, things blowing up, taking advantage of situations (more action than drama related) and all that...nothing like the movies of the past... just a thought... we're currently watching "to the shores of tripoli" on AMC and i'm really impressed with it. the plot is good, the drama is good... all around feel good movie and it makes me feel like the military is a pretty prestigious unit (proud of their heritage)! granted, this movie is probably more of a PR movie since it came out in 1942 (right in the midge of WWII)....so why don't we have more PR movies like this? I haven't seen jarhead yet.. is that a PR type movie or just action for actions sake?

| Good point! I wonder though if it is as simple as blood and guts sells more movies That's pretty sad.

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | What's really bugging me about movies lately is the unneccessary crudeness. I just watched "Click" last week, and I thought it was a really great movie, I was crying! BUT, it had repeated clips of the family dog humping a stuffed duck, it just did not add anything to the story!! There were many other parts that just didn't need to be there, and it is really too bad because the story was good, but no way can I recommend it to family because of those parts. I know, what do you expect from Adam Sandler? I just wish they'd realize it does NOT make the movie any better! |

| Ug, I know! I hate all the belching and gas passing in kid movies. Even in Charolette's Web, which was almost an a perfect movie, had they left out all the gas!
