| Admin/Owner ![]() | I think i thought of this because i got some sort of cut (small) on my finger and my finger went straight into my mouth, to minimize the ouch. Why, if we have a ton more bacteria in our mouth vs anywhere else on our body, do we use our mouth to minimize the pain or stem the blood from a cut? why do we instinctively go for the mouth like that? think it stems from when we used to suck on our bottles or fingers when we're just learning about our appendages? i dunno, was just thinking that as i was trying to make my wound feel better! call me crazy ![]()

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | I'm not a medical expert so I could be totally off, but I have two guesses. One, sucking on it applies pressure which reduces pain. Two, sometimes air on a cut makes it sting so getting it wet with saliva reduces the sting. I did not know the mouth has the most bacteria. Your saliva is full of digestive juices, I would think they kill they bacteria. But I have no idea. |

| Jetgirls Member | I'm such a germaphobe! I shake my hand really hard (among say a few choice words probably) and hold it tight. For instance, a paper cut...not that any of that helps...it's just what i do...but that is a good question about going straight to the mouth! Why do we/I turn the loud music down in the car so we/I can see better in the rain? Am I the only one that does that?

| Jetgirls Member | He, he... I do the rain/music thing... I even make the kids be quiet. I tell Emily that I need to concentrate so I can keep us all safe. I even know where I got it from, my mother. She does the same thing, and taught me when the roads get dicey that I should turn off the music so I don't have any distractions.I am also a clean freak and germophobe... so, no chance I put my finger in my mouth... yuk! |

| Speaking of a dirty mouth, sorry if this is off the subject, but I tried a new gum today... it is Orbit's Mojito flavor, it is soooo good.

| I have to admit I do this. I have even caught myself turning down the car radio when looking for a house address of a home that I have never been to before. |
