| Jetgirls Plus Member ![]() | Hey there... So I think I'm finally going to do it- I'm going RED! I've let me hair go for quite some time and it's getting pretty gray (although my friends say they can't see it!). I'm a dark brunette but I've been wanting to go red (a nice dark red, not crazy bright red) for a long time. I know it's a commitment since my hair grows fast. I also heard red fades the fastest and tends to change color (fade?). have any of you drastically changed your hair color? Any regrets? I think Nick will be shocked but I think he'll like it. That is of course if it is the "right" red for me! My hair appointment is on July 15th. Amanda |

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | I went red a few years ago. Of course the first time DH saw it he was at a flight competition, so he didn't even mention it. When I was little I was a very red strawberry blonde, so I have some of the natural in lowlights still. I can say that red changes way more than blonde, but blonde is much more obvious as it starts to grow out. |

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | i went red! I loved it, it looked really good on me and I'll probably do it again. I'm naturally brown with a bit of red highlights. As it grew out/faded it blended really well with my hair so it wasn't an obvious difference - but a lot of people noticed when i did it. Go for it! If you don't like it, it's just hair and you can change it back!! ![]() |

| Admin/Owner ![]() | I went a dark, dark brown before (full head) and that was a drastic change for me. it ended up being too dark and the brown eventually changed to a red tint. I apparently have a lot of red "tint" in my hair so even though i get lowlights of brown and highlights of blonde on top, the brown underneath tends to turn redish in some areas... I've also gone black from the ears down before...its a much more drastic change with blonde highlights but it actually looks neat!! personally, i like having a purple tint with the brown but it never stays that way for long, so i think this next time i get my hair colored, i'll go dark, dark brown from the ears down and get highlights up top to mesh... I'm waiting for the day i can put some serious purple streaks in my hair.. always wanted to do it but mom would have never approved and by the time i could have, it was already in the professional world. ![]()

| I'm a brownish naturally and I went blonde for the summer. I'm getting sick of touch-ups, so I'm gonna go back to natural come this fall. It was drastic when I first saw it and hated it. But all the guys loved it ... go figure. I want to go really really really dark brown, but I can't ever find a good color that doesn't fade. Blonde seems to work better on me than dark brown. I'd love to go red too.

| I started going gray when I was pretty young (18... thanks for the genes, Dad!). I colored my hair until I was 39. I was always a red-brunette. The redder you go, in my experience, the faster it fades. Also, if you have a lot of gray at the roots, you'll end up having light red roots and darker red ends, even if you pay a pro to color you. In the end, I had so much gray on the outside of my hair, with the underneath part being quite dark, I had to over-all color with a dark shade, then foil in tons of blonde to keep the roots from looking ridiculous. All for the low, low price of around $250. Yikes... but I figured if I was going to do it, it would look good. Then.... we bought a sailboat, and began sailing almost every weekend. I found the full sun and salt air literally stripped the color out of my hair. I was complaining about that one night, and my husband looked me square in the eye and said "why the hell do you color it anyway? what's the big deal?" What a dear, sweet man. He actually meant it. We made a deal... I'd let it grow out and we'd see how it looked. OK, so now I have pretty gray hair up front, with lots of dark brown streaks and its pretty dark still in the back. I actually have people ask all the time if I have someone "do that" to my hair. So, here I am three years later, and I have to say, its been nice having that extra money. I really had no idea how much I was spending... Did I answer your question? ![]() |

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | I used to color mine red, I'm very pale w/ green eyes so it looked pretty natural. But it does fade fast and roots are a lot more obvious, so I found I was doing it about every 2 weeks. Dh wants me to do it burgandy, but I don't have the time or money to keep up with that, maybe when the kids are older lol. |

| Jetgirls Plus Member ![]() | Well, I had my hair colored but it's not totally red. I ended up getting it highlighted and it looks really good. The lady who did my hair said that it would take a while to get my dark brown hair all red (it had issues taking/holing color) plus I would be annoyed with my roots which would show fairly quickly. I'm going to keep getting my hair highlighted with additional red each time so at some point it will be mostly red. If I post a pic it probably won't be too noticible! |

| Member | I've had dark brown (natural is a black thanks to my Italian mother), light brown, platinum blonde and red low lights. With the red it took my brown hair 3 trips to the local salon for it to finally set. My avatar pic was taken 3 years ago in Miami when I got a brown overlay and auburn low lights. You can't really tell from the pic. I was really happy with my red low lights - the tone was from Aveda and it lasted a long while. ![]()
