| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | Why does it always do something weird outside when Dh leaves? DH picked up a 2 day today (it was supposed to be rainy today and tomorrow) since they were offering time and half to CA who picked up trips. He calls around 3pm and says to check the radar, apparently we were about to get pounded with a severe thunderstorm with possibilites of strong wind and large hail. I'm like, oh great, here we go. The windows on the porch at our lake house are crap. So if it is raining heavy with strong winds, the rain comes in and the sills get pools of water. So around 3:30 is gets really dark and you can hear lightning. I figured no big deal.....until all of a sudden it started gusting wind, I honestly thought the trees were going to blow over....and then the thunder got lounder and lightning got more intense...and all of a sudden I hear this loud noise ponding out side....of course what is is hail. I immediatley think of my poor volvo outside, the hail was huge. it had to be about 1-1.5 inches in diameter (it seemed so big, I even went outside and got some to put in the freezer to show DH), I have only ever seen pea size hail. It was so loud on the windows, deck, ground and car, I immediatly went to the basement away from windows. All I could think of was that we were going to have a freak tornado (they rarely happen in NH). It went on for a good 15-20 min. I was actually a little scared! Of course, where is DH tonight...Canada so I can't talk to him. What a fun afternoon for me. After it ended I had to clean up the windows and check for damage to the poor car (it looks fine). I went out after to Walmart and the roads are covered with limbs and leaves, some trees down in the area. I hope that doesn't happen again. Rain and wind I can take, the hail really scared me. I thought for sure the windows on the porch were going to break! There was so much hail! Last edited by rgphib; 06-29-2006 at 07:59 PM. |

| I'm glad you are all ok! We've had major storms here in Philly--the Delaware River and others are big problems--people are dead or missing. It's not pretty. Hang in there! |
