| Jetgirls Plus Member ![]() | I am so sick of my corporate job! I can't stand it anymore. I like the company itself, but I am sick of the "political stuff" and all of the butt kissing that goes on! I'm going to be interviewing fnext week for a job I have wanted for almost a year but it will be a miracle if I get it. I have been told that I just don't fit the mold. What this means is that they want a "corporate type" person without a personality. The job is fantastic (retirement specialist that travels in the US and presents retirement info to our clients) but I know that the manager will be extremely difficult to work for. She has been called a "barracuda"! GRRRRRRR.... I have been having thoughts (dreams really) of going in and giving my 2 weeks. The only thing is that I get great benefits and I'll be 100% vested in July. I'm also getting a big bonus (30% of my salary) in July so it would be stupid to leave now. I have been working on my home business (HappyAmanda.myarbonne.com) which I absolutely LOVE to do. Hopefully the biz will do so well I can leave Corporate America forever! OK, that felt good to let it out. Poor Nick has heard enough so I need to tell somebody else. Maybe I'll win Powerball tonight ![]() |

| Sorry to hear that Amanda. At least you have this place to vent! I can totally sympathize with you and hope things can get better for you. Work in general is not my favorite place to be. Unfortunately I am in the same boat as you. I don't work in the corporate world--instead I work at a university where there is just as much political BS and buttkissing that goes on as anywhere else. A large part of my job consists of trying to explain other people's mistakes so it is annoying to say the least but like you I get great benefits. If I ever have kids they will be able to go to a reputable university for free. I am currently looking at the possibility of making a lateral move at work. The money would be pretty much the same but it would be a totally different type of work that I might actually enjoy a teensy weensy bit. Good luck at your interview! And if it doesn't work out, the 30% raise should help to soften the blow right? It's too bad American culture is one of living to work instead of working to live. My vote is for a 30 hour work week and 2 hour lunches!

| I know you are so underappreciated and undervalued. But please go to the library and read Nice Girls Don't Get the Corner Office 101 by Lois P. Frankel. It has helped me a lot. If you ever get to the point of hunting, let me know and also check the boards at www.shrm.org |
