Default Grocery Shopping Carts

This is now the second car that has fallen victim to the grocery shopping carts! The stupid people who leave them to blow/get pushed into other cars instead of returning them are really starting to piss me off. So I had been have a bad week to start off with (on Thursday 3 of my old students followed me home in their car and were tailing me, beepings, screaming and hanging out the window). I filled a report with our schools police officer yesterday and he was going to go over to the high school on Monday.....so now I am nervous since Brendan is gone all the time and now these jerks know where I live. So after school yesterday I go to get some food. Wouldn't you know when I get home I noticed a huge dent on my passenger side above the front wheel. Same type of dent that I got on my accord a couple years ago at the same store. I am so pissed. This is my first new car (well, we bought it a year old, but it is my first new car that wasn't my parents). So now my poor volvo has a dent. DH is pissed. He thinks the kids did it (how they would know I was shopping I don't know) but I told him it looks the same as the other car, it is from a shopping cart. Then he hangs up on me! Great, like I don't feel like crap already. About 30 min. later I get a collect call saying to call him at the hotel. So I do, and he tells me his phone is broken. Well, DH apparently thought it would help to throw his phone at the wall after talking to me. Yeah, that helps. So he said my car is my responsiblity now and he is not doing anything for it anymore. Nice huh. Like it is my fault some jerk couldn't put their cart away. Not to mention I never park near people but of course yesterday I parked closer to the store (still the area I usually park). So he is in training for the next 3 days (just recurrent ground school) and he says he'll talk to me Monday. Now, we have never not talked to each other every day (unless he is in Mexico/Canada)....so I am more upset at this point.

AGGGHHH...men. I don't know why he has to act like this. I so upset already since I love my new car and now he has to make me feel even worse!

Okay...vent over.

I love how guys think that everything is their problem and everything everyone does is about them. Yeah, it's all about you buddy!

Oh I hate that!

Sorry about the jerk-off kids and the shopping cart-inflicted injury to your car. One of my BIGGEST pet peeves is people who leave carts out in the parking lots. I haul two little kids around with me everywhere I go, and somehow *I* manage to put my carts in a cart-park area. It burns me to no end to see lazy people who won't put their carts away.

As for your dh, that's real mature about the phone! Bill has destroyed two computer keyboards in similar manners. Drives me nuts. Like breaking things is going to help anything. Yeah.

Go do something nice for yourself and ignore him. Seriously, ignore him. Let him call you when he's good and ready to act like an adult.

Why is it that they act that way. I mean, I was pretty angry, but I didn't throw anything at the wall. He said he is tired of buying nice stuff only to get it ruined. Well, duh...I am too, but it can be fixed, shit happens. He gets all worked up about things sometimes....

As for doing something nice for myself I put on Les Miserable and I am cleaning the house I know that doesn't seem nice for myself but it is actually relaxing. It is 65 out so I have the windows open and I can sing out loud even though I am not very good! Plus, I wanted to put away the winter dishes (winter is hopefully over) so I figured now is a good time to clean.

Plus, cleaning is better than grading the 80 lab reports I still have to grade! Why oh why do I give lab reports!

Thanks for the support!

Wow, I'm sorry for you that he reacted that way! It's just a depreciable asset and you're right, stuff happens. He should be grateful that you're ok, that the stalkers didn't do anything sillier than they did and that the car is drivable. It might be a comprehensive claim on the insurance, which means you probably only have a $100 deductible and that it won't count against you.

Well, he did at least call today (collect of course so I had to call back!) so that is good. He is still pissed, because now this is the second car that has a huge dent from stupid shopping carts! We simply have no luck! I am still mad at the way he reacted and he better apologize when he gets home tomorrow night. I think he reacted the way he did more because of what happened on Thursday with the students following me. It was really scary. They were weaving in and out of traffic, beeping, yelling and screaming at me out the window. And when I took a different turn, they kept going. Only when I met up with the other road I saw them waiting on a side street and then pulled back up behind me.

Of course Brendan had to leave 45 minutes after all that happened. I think the car with the shopping cart just put him over the edge because he is really nervous about my former students harrasing me and knowing he leaves me alone 4 nights a week. I don't blame him, but I think he needs to control his temper a bit! I mean, what did breaking his phone accomplish. So now a couple hundred dollars probably for paintless dent remover and hundred or two for a new phone! He is so dumb sometimes.

I thought I was being followed once, so I quit heading home and drove in a circle, the car followed me. So I headed for the police station. When I pulled in the parking lot they kept going and I never saw that car again. Pretty scary.

The same thing happened to me when I was away at college. I was returning to the dorm at around 3am (I was working in the lab). The parkinglot in front of the dorm was full so I had to go to the other side of the gymnasium where there wasn't anyone around. I pulled in next to a van (with no windows) and a man sitting inside. I waited in my car to see if he'd get out, but he didn't so I pulled back out of the spot. He pulled out after me and followed me for a while so I headed for the campus police station. He left as soon as I pulled in. I turned around, parked in the gym lot (had no other choice) and very nervously walked to my dorm.

It was really scary!
