How are all the southern CA jetgirls doing? I hope no one is seriously affected by the fires. Smoke and haze have begun to fill our upper atmosphere all the way up here in Monterey and we're 300-400 miles away!

Check in w/ us. We'd like to know all is OK and describe what its like down there ....

I have been watching the news and completely amazed on how severe it grew...I remember catcing a blip on MSNBC on afternoon, and next this you know, it's out of control...I am hoping for the best for everyone's safety...

Did I hear correctly that they said it was arsonand that they shot a guy they thought started all this? So hard to listen to CNN with all the noise my little guys make around here.

I know I heard something along those lines too...I think last I read, they officially charge one man, and still, they may be a handful out there...and something like $250000 for rewards...

Thanks for asking about us...things seem to be calming down since the Santa Ana winds and the temps have decreased. I know Mrs. Alchemist works for 911 so I'm sure she's been logging a lot of overtime this week.

Now the problem is the wind coming off the ocean like it normally does and it's blowing the fires in the opposite direction the Santa Ana's were sending them. So the fire fighters still have their hands full and will for the next few weeks. The air quality is just awful with smoke and ash everywhere and it's supposed to be like this for 4-5 weeks.

There have been a couple of arson arrests already (and one guy killed in San Bernardino County), but they're still looking for the person that started the huge Santiago Canyon fire and the authorities think he/she may be a fire fighter because of how and where the fire was set.

Thanks for the update and checking in. I'll be interested to hear Mrs. Alchemist's news/reports. She'll surely have some pretty amazing 1st hand accounts.

Continued best wishes for all the folks down there. The high "clouds" and hazy skies all the way up here are my constant reminders.
