I don't think that's true... there are guys on the AA line that have been waiting years to get back on the line. with the airlines, they just have to put you through training again.

so, he already has a seniority number with TSA...when he's called back and if he takes it back, all he has to do is complete training again to become current.

I'm wasn't referring to going back to TSA. I'm talking about getting hired somewhere else. My DH says it looks pretty bad on a resume when you haven't flown anything in over 6 months. I don't think they can afford to wait for TSA to call them back.

I asked my DH last night what he'd do in this situation (he's the sole breadwinner right now). He said he honestly didn't know. I think he'd go back to working at Circuit City but still be busting his tail to get back into aviation somewhere. He did say he sympathizes with the situation though, it's hard...

aaah i getcha... yea, that could be true! i'm not really sure.

and yea, i agree that it won't matter if he "just started there". it's all the same thing in most pilots eyes...once a gojet pilot, always a gojet pilot.

just like the gulfstream guys... it doesn't matter that you didn't pay for your job by going to the academy, all that matters is that you work/worked there at any one point in time and you're on "the list". that unfortunately, hasn't dissipated either.

Wow, and thanks for all the replies. A few questions though.
1- Gojets isn't taking flying away from TSA from what I understand, GJ is getting more united flying and tsa is losing american flying. So- would DH really be taking a job away from a tsa pilot?

2- I understand the bitterness towards gojets, however dh wasn't a part of any of that, he's only been flying for regionals since jan 2008. With this in mind, would he still be considered a scab?

If it was so honorable, why wouldn't they have one seniority list as Wexford does? Why do they have to furlough from one side and hire at the bottom on the other side? If they didn't have a line of pilots willing to do it, then your DH (and all the others) would keep his 1/2008 seniority date and just move on over. Now he starts another year of probation and first year pay. Is there a benefits waiting period?

I hadn't even thought about the benefits waiting period, wow that sucks. Something about that does seem fishy, but then again, DH needs a job flying.

there are lots of jobs other than gojets....he does not *have* to fly for an airline.

look at netjets, airnet, cfiing again or short term corporate.

if he *has* to go for an airline, look at skywest or the republic line...heck, piedmont is hiring right now and they're not going to kill his career opportunities down the line.

His TT is just over 1000 hours, and he has sent in resumes to comair, peidmont and skywest, called to follow up and heard nothing back. He doesn't have enough tt for corporate.......as I said, he's just starting out and we cannot survive on a cfi salary. (plus, I work for a non profit, so I dont' make much either).

He thinks that under NO circumstance should your dh go for gojets. He'll be black listed for the rest of his aviation career, no matter how long he was there. Go for the unemployment while looking.
He needs to be applying and get his name out there. Sure, he could go with gojets, but if he still has his resume out there, he might not get a call because of gojets. Or if he does get hired by a new company, lets say Delta, ALPA may not accept him and then would miss the opportunity to be employed. He also said that if he needed to commute, he would be denied a jumpseat, he knows cause he has refused them.

Yup, yup, yup... My (recently furloughed) husband agrees 100%... I think that in these times that are so hard for pilots, pilots really need to stick together to make the working conditions better for everyone.

Go Jets is a HUGE black mark on your "record" so, it's not a decision to be taken lightly...

I agree with so many of the posts that you ladies have made... And I also agree that everyone needs to make their own decision. Anyhow, I am the proud wife of one furloughed TSA pilot who will not be going to GoJets ever, under any circumstances.

And, info only, Skywest is not hiring anymore.

So, Danish, I really hope that your Hubby find something! I know it's hard!!!
