Default Really bad news for XJT

http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=xjt

Wow this does not sound good. I hope they can come to some sort of a deal. Guess it always comes down to the money, so what if XJT is one of the best regional airlines as far as reliability, service and their treatment of employees.

DH is upstairs working on his log book as we speak! He is really down now.....I'm just hoping he is with a new airline before this mess starts to happen at Express. Plans on having apps out by the end of the day!

Well, it will be a year before they take away the planes. Either that, or they will ask for concessions so they can lower the costs to keep the planes. I'm so disappointed that CAL doesn't see how valuable XJT is. If they go with some low bidder company like Mesa, they will be sorry.

Good luck to your DH. I'm glad mine went to CAL, but who knows what will happen there either with all the merger with UAL talk...what a mess that would be.

Mesa and UAL are bidding on the assets of FLYI.

merger with UAL? ugh....

better not ask for concessions! those guys are already starting lower than the typical mcd's worker!! can you imagine asking for concessions from someone whose already on food stamps?! oh wait.. didn't they already do that with shuttle?

i have a feeling concessions would be fought hand over foot by the pilot group anyways...they'd furlough anyways and isn't that enough of a concession?

Actually, while their new hire pay is low, it is one of the highest, if not the highest of the regionals. They probably have the best contract as well. Alot of it is actually much better than CAL's. It is too bad that if CAL goes with one of the lowbid type carriers they will end up spending a dollar to save dime. Hopefully one of the beancounters will realize this before any paycuts/furloughs take place.

Praying that the merger talk is just that a rumor. That would be a NASTY mess considering the history between UAL and CAL.

This whole thing really sucks. I've been reading the message board Brendan is on with ExpressJet and I get more and more depressed. Brendan said yesterday, "just when we were starting to make decent money". Now I am guessing the family plans will be put on hold....again (we were thinking of this summer starting to think about it). It is just so awful because CAL knows they get a quality product with Express....just wait.

Luckily for Brendan he has been there since June of 99 so he won't get furloughed if/when that happens. I am just hoping he is out of there by the summer anyway....we'll see, I bet there will be a lot of people starting to get apps in and jump ship! And I don't blame them on bit.

It is sad--ACA became FlyI after ACA denounced the United regional flying and became Independence Air. So it's just one big giant layoff. I hear United is looking at the gates in IAD.

And this latest news just ads to the gloom of the season. YIKES!

Gawd, i just cannot believe the stuff that's going down.. right before the new year too!! talk about a total letdown...I know the XJT guys are going to be fighting left and right with the FlyI guys to find a job.. any job...

that's just something I couldn't imagine! all the work just to "get there" and boom, back down on your ass again! well, i'm hoping some of the other regionals will take them in or that they'll find jobs in cargo.. cuz it seems that cargo is the place to be today - who knows about tomorrow...

tomorrow might be "back to CFI" as being the best of all situations! it's just scary!!

and yet, over on Jetcareers - there are still guys on there wondering why everyone is so negative, yet still wanting to fly for peanuts on the dollar! SJS is a definate problem in this industry!!
