| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | Sorry, just need to vent.... The Jan. bid packs came out on Friday...not only to the lines suck (they lost lines again in CLE and a lot of the lines are not commutable!) but CAL/Continental Express decided to reduce its MHT-CLE schedule starting Jan. 4. Usually most days there is a 6:30, 10, 2pm, 5:40pm flight from MHT-CLE (except Sat/Sun). THe flights are always packed....well they decided to cut the 6:30 all days except Monday. They cut the 10am flight Tuesday/Wednesday/Sat/Sun so the first flights those days are at 2pm! How the hell is DH supposed to get to work now! He is so mad. There is maybe a dozen lines or so that would work, but this means bidding to work weekends again! So now his choice is to hope he gets those lines that work, 2-leg it to work on another airline, or buy a BOS parking pass (really expensive). The big problem is that the lines are so bad most of them don't start late (late meaning after noon). To make matters worse, word is CLE flying will be reduced each month so the lines will get worse and worse.... I suggested moving to EWR base, but so many people commute MHT to EWR it would not be ideal. Plus he will lose his vacation weeks and have to pick from what is left in the new base. What a fun time to be a pilots wife. DH is worried about getting to work...and hates his job (this was just one more thing for him). Maybe this will make him apply to a new airline...he finished his logbook now he just needs to get going and apply. Thanks for listening. This is not going to be fun. Hopefully it is only reduced MHT-CLE for a short peroid of time.....I am not optomistic though at this point. Robyn |

| So how did the January line turn out for you guys? CLE is a tough place to be because it keeps getting smaller and smaller and smaller. dh used to be based there a couple of years ago and was the very last guy on the seniority list for an entire summer. that was no fun! Hope January turns out okay for you guys! Dyane

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | We'll know more on Wednesday when the line improvement window opens. Right now, he has 4 4-days which is what he likes. 1 is commutable on both ends, 2 are commutable going home only and 1 isn't commutable at all. So hopefully we can change the 3 on Wednesday night or he will just need to get a couple hotel rooms. He might just have to pay for a Boston parking pass for January and hope the flights go back to normal in Feb. We know they do the end of Feb (mass and nh vacation weeks) but we don't know if they will stay. He is thinking he will need to change to EWR base soon. We want to wait until after summer since he will loose all his vacation choices if he goes now and there is nothing open during the summer in EWR right now. Or better yet, maybe he'll actually start applying to a new airline..... He likes CLE because there are not many commuters from MHT-CLE but rumor is right now, it is going to keep getting smaller. There are a lot of CAL and Express pilots that commute MHT to EWR so that is why he doesn't really want to go to Newark....At least there are a lot of lines to choose from in EWR. |

| Its really unfair that BF won't know what he has for Jan & Feb until Dec 26th!! ON the back of that, we decided it was best for me not to take a chance and risk spending NY in Australia with him ![]() |

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | That really sucks! We are lucky at least Brendan knows his next months schedule early the month before. If he was on reserve or holding a relief line he wouldn't know until the end of the month though. The worst is not being able to make plans! |

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | Thank god.... We were able to make everything commutable with the line improvement window. At first when we tried, we didn't get anything (it opens right at 9pm and when he submitted the screen said he was too early...). Luckily a second later he submitted some other things and got the trips he needed. One of them he will have to go to Boston to commute but that one has a Manchester overnight so it is worth it! And the overnight is Sat-Sun so it is a day that we can spend together! When he is home, I am usually teaching since he can not hold weekends off and try to make everything commutable. So everything worked out and I once again have a happy husband! Now on to thinking about Feb. He has vacation the end of Feb (my school vacation) and we want to maximize it as much as possible (Express has an awesome vacation policy). And hopefully off to Hawaii again ![]() |

| OMG, bids just came out, and Bill is off from 28 DEC til 12 JAN! It's only a 65 hour line, or something crazy like that though, so he'll have to pick up something somewhere in there. |

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | Thats great! It is so nice when the days off work out like that ![]() I think Brendan's line is like 81 hours but that is okay. In Nov. he ended up with 100.8 pay hours and so far he is at 94 for this month (and this month was only orginally 86...he has been over flying alot!). Brendan is was able to get off from Dec. 26-Jan 5. We are thinking about trying to fly to Florida for a few days. I don't start back at school until the 3rd and he said the loads are wide open to come home on the 1st. So we may try for the 28-1st. We'll have to see. His parents have a condo in Florida so we have a place to stay. Rental cars are really expensive though. I started looking and so far they have ranged from 250-350 for 4 days...umm I think mommy and daddy can pick us up (they will be in FL). Enjoy your time together ![]() |
