Default Re: ASA pilot contract

Hi, Jo,
From what it sounds like to me, the ASA MEC is meeting to decide how to handle the contract issue as it is now. Since Management said at the last meeting that they needed to run a cost analysis and therefore needed to shelve the contract (3 years worth of contract negotiations) for an undisclosed period of time, the mediator said OK! (I take it as...managment wants to have thier holidays off!) and here we are. Right now, polling is going on regarding ALPA, the MEC, management and QOL issues. I hope that the pilots are speaking up and giving them an earful.

As it stands now, I don't know what is going to happen. I hope they take a strike vote. But all of this will be nil if Delta takes a strike vote against management this week. They've bent over far enough, and it isn't going to make sense to fly a bunch of RJs around if it just dumps people off in Atlanta with no Delta flights going anywhere.

Hey...what a great idea...people can DRIVE for the holidays! Then maybe they'll realize that if they want to get to LA in 4 hours instead of 3 days, maybe a $1200 coach ticket isn't that expensive after all!

Sigh...I'll keep you posted if I hear anything new. I guess in the meantime I'll keep working just in case ASA does decide to go on strike.
