Default D/H's last flight!

Today was his last flight at XJT. It stunk because he was flying with new people and was wishing it would have been with people he had flown with before. :frown: Oh well, he starts ground school at CAL on Tuesday. We have our son's B-Day party tomorrow (2 weeks early so he could be here) and I really need to find a job to help make-up for this huge paycut and no benefits! Wish us luck...we'll need it!:googleeye

Last flights are tough. Taking a cut in pay is tougher!

Think of the long run though

There are so many new people at ExpressJet, my DH hardly ever knows who he is flying with It is good at least that they are growing.

That is so exciting that he will start at CAL soon. Brendan was cursed by being hired one year to late. Oh well, everything happens for a reason right!?

Does he know what he will be flying and where he will be based? I know you mentioned before you were worried about where he would be based. Now I know the Express guys got screwed going over but you will lose benefits like health insurance too (I knew about travel benefits and whatnot but jeezzz)! Now that is awful! They really don't care about the Express pilots do they, even though they give them a great flying product!

Good Luck on the job hunt. I have to go back to work in 3 weeks (I am a teacher) and I am not looking forward to it

I swear most of the time he doesn't know the people he is flying with and CLE is the smallest base!

He doesn't know yet, but more than likely it will be EWR on the 737. I know it will be worth it in the long run, at least I hope it is. I just have to have a place to bitch and moan about it though!!!After the final guys going over on the flow through, his group, the PIPs got screwed (at least they do keep DOH for travel but lose whatever vacation passes are left), with the pay and insurance, but the guys like your DH got screwed even more! I really feel bad for all the guys below him. He did get an e-mail saying that CAL was speeding up their hiring which would mean the PIPs would all be over quicker than the summer of 2006 which was the projected date. Then CAL will start interviewing non-PIP XJT guys. Supposedly, ALPA has yet to be informed if it will be in seniority order or if CAL which just do what they please.

Enjoy the rest of your summer break...it really flew by!

My DH is based in CLE as well. Even though the other bases have more lines, it is an easier commute from MHT to CLE. There are just too many commuting MTH to EWR to make him comfortable.

At least your DH will be in EWR and not Guam I had heard they said they will hopefully have them all over by summer of 06 (still way too long) and then I heard they don't know how they will do the rest of the hiring. I bet it won't be seniority order and CAL will just do as they please. The whole thing really irritates DH and he hates to talk about it.

Okay, maybe I am just dumb, but why are there no benefits?

Ahh...the joys I have to look forward to ....

Most companies will not give new hires benefits right away. It could be a few months or more depending on the companies.

CAL has a 6 month waiting period before you get benefits. I could work at a gas station and get them immediately!

what's with this 6 month waiting period? i've never heard of a company taking so long to start up benefits (esp health benny's)!! i've always seen a 30 day wait.

so how's it going so far? the adjustments in the beginning are usually the hardest and then it gets easier as you get used to them!!
