Default Re: D/H's last flight!

I have no idea why they have such a long waiting period. I know when he went to Express ages ago, it was the same. I had insurance through Delta so it really didn't matter to us at the time.

It's going okay so far. He seems to like it and everyone he meets says he made the right decision going over and knows that they gave up alot doing so. So far the class itself has been pretty easy, but will probably get a little harder in a few weeks. He has 3 friends in his class from Express so that makes it nice for him. I can't remember how many sims he said they do but it seemed like really alot. He is on the 737 based in EWR. More than likely he will be on reserve for less than 6 months. The VP of flight ops came in and told them they are doing a ton of hiring. By the end of the year he should have 250 people below him. And most of them are being put on the EWR737. There have been a couple of handfuls for the 757 though.

I thought his schedule would be 5 on and 2 off, but it's not. It's much better. It looks like it is 5 on 2 off, 5 on then 4 off, 5 on then 2 off etc. so it isn't too bad. We may go down and see him this Thursday-Sunday since he is off Sat-Tues this week. Then he can come home with us Sun and go back Wed morning since he doesn't have to be there until 1pm. The biggest thing is when and if I get a job! That will be one of the biggest adjustments for me. I am not looking forward to it!

Actually, many are now 90 days. Six months is not competitive, but in the airline industry, people seem to be grateful for the job despite the terrible benefits and reducing pay!

Anyway, I am REALLY glad it's going well Jan! If Bill needs a place to stay an hour away from base, we're always available!

The actual insurance is pretty decent and reasonable it's just the wait that is ridiculous. And first year pay ...nothing good to say there!

Thanks for the offer Roz, but he won't have a car there!
