Default Training Question for those in the Airlines

Okay,
I'd like to know from pilots(and their wives) who are already in the industry and know of the schools. If you had to do it all over again, how would you go about it? What school would you attend?

Thanks!!!

My DH did not attend an academy. He got his PPL at age 15 and then was a flight instructor later in life to get his hours.

My dh went through the flight program at SIU right out of high school. Then directly on to instrucing & working his way up through the airlines.

I did mine via FBO route. Wouldn't change it for the world.

My DH went to ERAU right from high school, then transferred to Daniel Webster, then back again to and graduated from ERAU. He worked as a fueler, dispatcher, banner tower, ERAU flight instructor and FBO flight instructor along the way before he got on at XJT. While he liked ERAU and it is an excellent school, I think he would have been better having a degree outside of aviation (something different to fall back on)and flying somewhere else.

I went to ERAU and did the whole flight progam as well. Unfortunately, now that I can't see (ha ha) I don't fly anymore and don't have any interest in it. I liked the school as well, but wish I hadn't gotten a degree in such a specialized area. Not to mention the cost..Yikes!

My dh went to ERAU and thinks the same thing that yours does Jan. ERAU is a great school but it's awfully expensive and in aviation, you want a degree outside of the field so you have a "backup career" if you need it.

My dh got his PPL at the ripe age of 16, went to ERAU after high school...he flew corporate for about 6 months after college, CFI'd for a good year or two after corporate fell out...got hired by Skyway Airlines and worked there for 2 years and then moved on to DAL.

Whatdoyamean by can't see Jan? are your eyes that bad? have you considered lasik at all?

Yeah Kristie, my eyes are that bad! Last time I got new glasses they were still 20/400 but I think they have gotten worse since I think I need new glasses. I think that is considered legally blind! Being a pilot isn't the best career choice for the situation! I'd love to get LASIK, if I could ever afford it (I'd want to pay for it myself and not have my DH pay for it even though he has encouraged me to do it lots of times).
