| What a joke! Since Jason and I are both former Comair employees, we still have a quite a few friends there. This is the "scoop" we got from them. The ice storm that hit CVG left a lot of crews stranded at outstations, other employees couldn't travel in to even get to work and still other crews were "timing out" because of long delays, etc. So, they were changing trips and rerouting crew members, etc. Also, they ran out of glycol (de-icer) and because of the snowstorm, the trucks couldn't get to the airport to deliver more. That was the first big issue....then someone had the brilliant idea of breaking up all of the pairings into out and backs instead of just breaking up the trips little by little. The computer system didn't have enough capacity to deal with all of the "trips" since they increased the number of trips so drastically. That is what crashed the system. Randy Rademacher was not a beloved leader as far as the pilots and flight attendants were concerned. He did not win any points with anyone during the strike. It'll be interesting to see how the future of Comair unfolds! |
