| Independence Air, formerly known as Atlantic Coast Airlines dba United Express, based in IAD is furloughing pilots all the way back to 2000 hire dates. Those captain hired after 1999 will be downgraded. They were even nice and actually accelerated the furlough dates They are getting rid of 22 planes. I don't know if that includes the 4 RJs they already sold. Yet I just saw a press release with them announcing Airbus service from IAD-LAS???Last I heard they only had either 2 or 3 Airbus aircraft and the proving runs with the FAA were not going smoothly (that info may be need to be updated). Who the hell is running these companies? No need to answer (I worked for this one for a VERY short time)! Jan |

| FLYi is losing the leases on 20 RJ's and cutting 25% of the flights. They never made it to more than 50% load factors and bled money like crazy. It's not a surprise, Kristie. It's sad but expected. Now they did bid on the United Express flying that Air Whisky currently has. The award of the bid should be announced this week. If someone other than Air Whisky gets it, expect massive layoffs there. Here's an article on FLYi: http://www.marketwatch.com/news/yhoo/sto...BFB02AB8468A%7D |
