| ...but I sure feel like it! There are a zillion decisions to be made and plans to be put into place and stuff to be packed and houses to be sold and bought and the list goes on and on and on... It is said that money is the #1 cause of stress in a marriage. I think that selling a house while buying another one should be #2! Especially when it's an out-of-state move! I never imagined that Will and I would be as stressed out as we are over all of this. We have to coordinate the close of this house with the close of the new house (so that funds can be transferred), we have to coordinate packing up this house and getting it all down to AZ with Will's vacation which is June 20-26th. We have to decide wether it is more time and cost-effective to move all of our stuff ourselves in a big U-haul or if we should have it driven down by commercial movers. One of us has to be down there on June 17th to do the pre-closing walk-through, which is fine except that we also have to bring the boys down at some point. Do I fly down with the boys on the 16th and stay at the crash pad so that we can be at the house on the 17th by 11:30am for the walk-through? Or do I just keep hoping that Will is going to have that day off so that he can be down there to do it? What day do we start driving to bring everything down? We get the keys to the house on the 21st at 11:30am. Do I wait until the 21st to fly down with the boys? Or should I wait until the 22nd? Oh, what to do? What to do? I am a big, frustrated mess right now!! All while my husband is in another part of the country (also feeling like a big, frustrated mess)! I know that it will all work out. At least that's what I'm telling myself! I just can't see how everything is going to fall into place within such a short amont of time. HELP!!! Advice/thoughts desperately needed!!! Karla |

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | 2 pieces of advice... 1. BREATHE!!! I know it's stressful, but take some time, take 2 mins and just take really deep breaths and slowly exhale, and you'll find out how much calmer/relaxed you will be. 2. This too shall pass - this is a bit of advice from my grandmother that has come in very usefull for me, so when you start freaking out, remember that you'll get through it, your new house will be beautiful and your kids will love it sorry i can't help more, I don't have much experiance moving (besides going to college and between apartments but i don't have much stuff) |

| Moving is a bitch. I would rather cut my pinky toe off with a dull scissors than move. Okay, now that we all know how I feel about moving............... Keep a file folder of all the moving stuff so it all stays together, there's nothing worse than knowing you need a particular piece of paper and being totally unable to locate it. In fact, with you guys selling, buying & moving, you'll probably want separate files for each thing. Do you have relatives anywhere that you can ship the kids off to for a while during the most crazy days? My old roommate sent her kids to Grandma's in Utah while her and her fiance moved from Chicago to Dallas. It at least gave them a couple days to drive their car down & deal with the movers without the distraction of kids. Professional movers are the way to go if you can do it. I've told Bill that I am NOT moving via U-Haul *EVER AGAIN*. I can deal with the packing & unpacking, but the carrying of the boxes, the stacking, the arranging of the truck.........Blech. Good luck, you have my sympathies! |

| Oh, Karla, Karla, Karla - I feel your moving frustration. Wait a minute, I'm in the middle of it, myself. I agree with MQAAord, and if you can afford it, have movers do it for you.Ok, when we moved from PDX to DEN last fall, we couldn't afford movers, so we used a company called ABF. They drop off a moving trailer, you pack your own stuff, and you load it into the trailer. They pick up the moving trailer & they drive it cross country for you. Then you get to unload it, and unpack. It was a more than a U-haul, but way less than a moving company. Like a full moving company does, ABF will schedule the destination delivery of the trailer (the one you packed) and it usually takes a week or so to get to your destination. That will give you time to drive your cars to AZ, at a relaxed pace, without having all your worldly posessions strapped to your back, so to speak. You can even take in a sight or two along the way. This move, the one we're currently in the middle of, is just across town. So we are doing the u-haul thing. Actually, my DH is doing 90% of it on his days off, since I'm too pregnant (ie: useless) to help. I've been packing & unpacking, but he's been hauling & lifting everything. (I kind of like it this way.) Thank goodness it'll all be over by this weekend... it does suck. As far as when to be where, and all that... can you leave the kids with the grandparents & non-rev to AZ for your walk through & to pick up keys? |

| The trailer thing - that's what my parents did when they moved from Den to Tucson. It was a pretty good deal. I wish we could have afforded to do that when we moved to Cali from Colorado. |

| Admin/Owner ![]() | when we moved from florida to arizona, we u-hauled it and figured out that had we gotten actual movers, the cost would have been about the same (overall).. but if we had to do it again, as much of an adventure as it was, we'd hire movers because our time is more valuable than the cost itself....we didn't get to take in any sights because there's not a whole lot you can do when your in a big ol u-haul with a dog! haha I'd suggest renting movers but the idea of packing the truck yourself might keep you more at ease since i've heard many a horror story about movers losing (ie: stealing) stuff... if you can tuck the kids away somewhere during your walk-through, i would really recommend that because you have to look very closely at these AZ builders and their work.. anything you don't find during the walk through could make a difference later on... and I'd say relax some.. coordination is going to be your biggest key, if you've got the coordination down, it'll all flow in together without a problem... myself - I love moving.. it gives me a challenge, a change of scenery and an opportunity to throw things out/buy new & redecorate! | I [i:3d3be025aa]WAS[/i:3d3be025aa] gonna offer to pay for your airfare. Would you settle for bart fare, pizza and beer? Moving to a less expensive place probably. DH and I are having an ongoing discussion (read and disagreement on the verge of an argument) about when our lease is up. We only have it on the weekends when the office is closed, so we don't ever remember to go down and ask them for a copy of our lease. I think it ends August 31. He thinks it ends July 31. July 31 would be better, but either way we'll be moving (either packing or unpacking) right around my sister's wedding - so it'll be hectic. |

| Admin/Owner ![]() | ooohh that does sound hectic! as long as I can get to SFO and as long as BART runs from SFO to your pad.. AND as long as I have some good directions and don't have to walk to far with luggage, i'm kewl with it! Does that mean I don't have to rent a car then? Altho.. if it's at the end of july... I'll have to pass cuz I have a family reunion in Michigan to be at....but I could help before then, I think.. really don't know yet what will be happening in July until we get doug's july sched.. probably won't be traveling much cuz everyone and "their mother" will be traveling during summer break. |
