| Have any of you heard of the air ambulance learjet that crashed in san diego last night? There were 2 pilots, 2 paramedics and a flight nurse on board when it crashed. It's so sad! This one is way to close to home for me, this company charters flights from my dh's old company. It wasn't any of the pilots or the planes from my dh's old company, this company had just bought 2 lears and it was one of them that crashed. I have not heard anything more about it today. My heart is just broken over this, I couldn't stop crying when I was watching the news about it last night. I was talking to my dh just before that and he was very upset about the whole thing. Is it just me or have there been way to many airplanes going down in the past week or so?!?! ![]() |

| [ QUOTE ] Is it just me or have there been way to many airplanes going down in the past week or so?!?! [/ QUOTE ] I was thinking the exact same thing! I saw on the news last night that a plane carrying a bunch of NASCAR people crashed yesterday. I kept thinking..."are there always this many planes that crash or am I just now paying attention to it?" I don't know what's happening out there, but it disturbs me. | Admin/Owner ![]() | actually, there's a lot of crashes that occur on a monthly basis.. but when it's *high profile*, we tend to hear about them more and that's just what's going on here now.... They're having the same conversation over at JC.. so one of the guys looks up the latest NTSB statistics since January of this year... | Really?!?! That many?!?! Before last night I never really thought about them having a crash, I always figured they were more likely to get into a car accident on the way to work than have a plane crash. I think it's just really bothering me now because I've been away from dh for a month straight and am really missing him, then to hear all these crashes is really making me insecure. I'm really teary eyed as it is with the move looming, etc. I guess another way to look at that is that's a very low percentage compared to the number of planes flying every day. oooohhhh, I just don't like to think about it! My dh told me if a learjet crashes you've got no hope at all, they go down like rockets. okay, I'm going to stop myself before I get all worked up again. |

Unfortunately, we have conversations about this a lot. I'm not a very good flier...don't like it at all in fact, but I do it because it's the fastest way to get from here to there. It bothers me that he's in the air all the time, but it's what he loves to do and if he feels safe then that's all that matters...I guess. Ha-ha I try not to let it bother me though, and you shouldn't either since it sounds like you have enough on your plate as it is! Where are you moving to?Karla |

[/ QUOTE ] THEY ARE!!! There are many many many more car wrecks than planes crashes. You want to know the most dangerous time of a crew member's life, the van ride to/from the hotels! I swear, some of those rickety vans & freaky van drivers scared the crap out of me. |

| Karla, We're moving to springdale, Arkansas. My dh got a great job out there which is going to have him home much more often than before...YEAH! He went ahead to start the job (left Nov 3) and I stayed behind to pack up everything. The movers are coming on wednesday morning, my MIL is flying in thursday morning and we're hitting the highway that day. Now that it's so close I'm getting so excited I can't sleep!!! |

| Admin/Owner ![]() | you are definately safer in the air than you are on the ground! by far!!! remind me to find a comparison on car crashes vs plane crashes.... the only thing that bothers most flyers is that when a big plane crashes, your talking a lot of people at once.. whereas a car crash is a few people more often....interesting how that works huh!? |

| I think the thing that bothers me most is, if a plane goes down, you're probably going to die. Whereas if a car crashes, you're more likely to get out alive. |
