Default DH might be getting furloughed!

Hi guys!
If any of you can spare an extra prayer or two for us i'd appreciate it. Eric's company has been very slow lately and they recently lost two big contracts for the winter so the owner of the company put out a memo that three F/O's would be furloughed on Sept. 13th. DH is in the bottom three of the list, but we're hoping that people take the voluntary furlough (he's paying full medical for 6 mo. if they do).

I'm freaking out (although i'm trying not to).

Any extra prayers are appreciated....

Oh Tanya, I am sorry. Eric and I are conversing. DH says that coworkers who came from there say the owner thinks its a migrant worker farm. He can hire and lay off with the season.

I saw that over on JC... it seems like he's gotten a lot of great pointers to new jobs and hopefully something will come of those very soon for you guys!!

Doug said he'd try to put in a good work at one of the companies cuz he does have a few contacts around freight...and there are SO many freight guys on JC that i'm sure just about any of them will vouch for Eric! he's been a long term member so i don't see why not.

We'll talk about it more this weekend and see if we can't all brainstorm a bit with you!

Thank you both for your encouragement. I know most pilots at some point or another go through this sort of thing, but somehow that's not making this easier.

According to the other employees at Kalitta II, they've never furloughed anyone before. Roz, i'm wondering if your DH is thinking about Kalitta Charters I, instead of Kalitta Charters II. One is owned by Connie Kalitta, two is owned by Doug Kalitta (the one my DH works for).

Everyone at the company is shocked! No one knew this was coming. Doug sent out the letter behind everyone's back. Including his own secretary and the Chief Pilot. Eric didn't even get sent the letter, he only found out about it because one of his friends (an F/E) called and said "Hey, did you get the letter?" It's all so bizarre!

Anyway, we're trying to stay optimistic and hopefully this is an opportunity for something else.

Thanks for being such great friends!!

Tanya-- Yikes! I couldn't access the site until today-- so I didn't see this until now! I will definitely be praying for you all. I am sure the waiting is the worst. Hopefully you will hear something soon.

Nobody deserves the stress and everything that comes along with a furlough. You and your family are in my prayers.

Stupid airlines!!
I hope all works out for you.

In November they are closing Nick's base to the ERJs- the plane that he flies! We'll see if Mesa does the right thing. He is bidding CRJ captain so he can stay at his base. So many things up in the air! People wonder why I don't follow my man to his base and this is the reason! No stability.

I totally understand your frustration (and Nick's). Brendan has been based in Cleveland (he commutes) for about 5 years now, and he is going to end up bidding Newark on the next bid. Express keeps shrinking the flying in Cleveland and even though he has been with the company for 7+ years he will probably not even hold a line in Cleveland next month. He is so upset, because the commute to EWR usually sucks. So much for being #480 out of ~2300 pilots! The worst part is he has to bid vacation as if he is based in Cleveland and he looses those weeks when he has to bid to Newark and then has to pick what is left over. That is what is upseting him this weekend. Now he'll have crap for his 3 weeks of vacation next year

Sorry to thread hi-jack Tanya! I hope all is well with your family. Has DH heard anything new yet about the furlough? Any job prospects? Keeping you guys in my thoughts.
