| Admin/Owner ![]() | Although it's late in the day and I honestly wasn't going to address it (because even to me, it still hurts), I just wanted to wish you all a happy 9/11.. I know it's not necessarily a happy day.. but it's a day we all remember quite vividly *still* and have in our thoughts and prayers as the day goes on..We all send well wishes to all those who lost loved ones. but with the way I think (and it may only be me), i tend to try not to dwell too much on the past and sad things as all it does is keep you sad (I learned that from my 25 yr old brother's passing in 2000)... but instead, we move on, enjoy the day, plant some flower, remember and reflect on those who sacrificed for us today, yesterday and in many many years past. I enjoyed my day today.. doug was home, we went out for coffee and just sat and contemplated on how nice and sunny it was today..and how the light breeze really helped.. then I went and bought myself a storage container that would fit my hammock (when not on the stand), something i've been wanting to do for months now.. then we went, got errands done, went for lunch and got some superior Pho soup (vietnamese) and went out tonight for some munchies and drinks.... so I really *really* enjoyed my day and didn't take one thing forgranted. 3 years ago today, doug was in BOS scheduled to leave on a flight to DC at 12:45...when I got a serious eye opening phone call to turn on the tv (6am phx time, 9am eastern) and saw what was going on, I couldn't get thru to doug because he was in BOS... after getting spazzy & having to realize that I had to keep breathing (I really thought i was gonna lose him), I finally got through to him, asked him what his schedule was and TOLD him, he was NOT to go on any flight that day (he said the BOS airport was already closed and was even in disbelief himself - sigh of relief!!!)... I was absolutely terrified...he was stuck there, in BOS for 6 days and had NO WAY of getting home since even DL couldn't get incommunicado with him or anyone else in the area... in fact, he would call me from the Mccormick & Schmicks there telling just how many pilots and crew were there stranded day in/day out and he even called me from his hotel room when he saw the FBI raiding the hotel across the street (apparently where the suicide bombers were staying).. that terrified me even more. it was then and a few months later (it took me a while to learn HTML - quite a few months later) that i created this site, but that's not the whole point...considering that there were absolutely NO pilot wives sites avail like there are now! to this day, i dont take a day with him forgranted and I hope you do not as well.. but I will not sit here, idlylly watching as our country changes for the worse (which IMO it has and in a BAD way since I feel NO SAFER)...we SAID Sept 11th wouldn't change our way of living but have you noticed just HOW MUCH it has changed our way of living? even before 9/11 and especially after 9/11, i'm prepared for the WORST to happen.. I KNEW that when I married doug that something might happen to him -> for goodness sake, he's in a dangerous line of work day in/day out (outside of the terrorism thing) and i'm prepared and i'm ready.. and I can and WILL go on if something happens to my Doug... granted, i'd be sad for a long long time, but I have no CHOICE but to continue living and i WILL make it so....can you say the same for yourself? I certainly hope so! if you think about it, we ALL lost family.. but can we stop living? NO... do you want to stop living? I certainly hope you do not want. the only way to move forward is to do just that - MOVE FORWARD. REMEMBER, REFLECT, NEVER forget.. but keep moving on....THAT's what they hate.... the idea is to follow your [b:923faafbde]DREAM[/b:923faafbde], [b:923faafbde]LIVE[/b:923faafbde] where you want to live, deal with the commuting issue, DH being away from home etc... the reality is that your follow your DH's schedule.. but however you do it, [b:923faafbde]ENJOY[/b:923faafbde] it! so my question is: how did you enjoy and make 9/11 a happy day for you.. and.. have you prepared for the worst (no matter if it's terroist, plane malfunction, driver error on the way to work etc)... Again - Happy 9/12..... ![]() |

| My 9/11 story is on JC in the 9/11 rememberances thread. If you want to read it, it's there. I spent yesterday like I spend everyday now, just playing with Alex. He had a nice nap, we went for a walk, watched the Cubs game & the nascar race. It's not a day I care to remember, think about or relive. I don't need a memorial service, memorial building site, or anything to remember 9/11. I'm reminded every day I wake up and don't have a job to go to. |
