That's kind of what I meant. Since it is on his airline I would have higher seniority(he's PRETTY senior) than an ASA, Mainline, whatever. Of course he'd leave without me, but then hear about it later that night. lol I don't get worked up about being stuck someplace a little bit longer, esp if I don't have the kids! lol

| I don't think I have ever been left when dh was flying, but there was one time coming back from Canada I had to go to the airport early with another crew because his flight was over sold. But I never planed to non-rev without a plan B. I would only plan on flying on Christmas Day if at all, only because 1) the flights are wide open, 2) then you can spend the one importatnt day with him. Otherwise loke other posters said the chance of spending an entire four day with him is nearly impossible especially over Christmas breaks. |

| I did a overnight with Lance, and as always I came in with the crew, well it was like two mintues after the 30mins before flight, and the lady was refusing to check me in. The pilot was the one that stepped up and told her that she was going to and that they weren't leaving without me. One other thing you have to keep in mind with Christmas flying is that you are in the "bad" weather time. Even if its not where you are, one bad snow storm in Denver can throw off 10 other airports. T and I went to spend a overnight with Lance and when I left the house the flight was wide open, when I got to the gate there was a HUGH line, (not a good sign) a flight out of chicago was cancelled and they had to move px. I don't really have to tell you that we didn't get on!

| Hey everybody thanks for all the comments and advice. I think that I might wait and do a trip with the hubby later on. He is based out of Saint Louis and I am in Mpls, so it would be really hard I think to do one leg of the trip. (If I am wrong let me know) He always is going to and from Saint Louis though, so I might be able to fly to STL on Christmas day and then go from him from there, but who knows. What is a ZED? You would think that after being married to a pilot for 3 years and dating one for 8 I would know these things I did fly non rev a bunch when he was going to flight school in Florida. He had passes on Delta and they had great benefits so I always flew back to Wisconsin and Minnesota. So yeah, I have done it before and know what it entails. Thanks again for the replies. He does fly for Chautauqua (republic) and is a captain. |

| ZED is Zonal Employee Discount and it's relatively new for DL and affiliates. Replaces ID## discounts which weren't always a great deal. Zeds are only avail with ailrines we have contract, so check your airline for partners. Based on mileage and a level (low, med, high, etc) ratio, they can be very cheap! Particularly domestic (no international taxes) If the airlne isn't on a zed with yours, you use the ID## options instead. Those are bought for each airline and whatever rate they require. Still space available. Zeds work differently, by destination, not airline, but will only be honored by your zed partners. So, if I buy a zed from Delta counter to fly Lufthansa from Amman Jordan to Frankfurt (so I can connect to CVG if I'm bumped from hubby's JFK nonstop) I pay distance $51 plus $42 fees/taxes. I can't use that same tkt on Royal Jordanian because we don't have zed with them. I didnt need that zed, so I had it refunded. If you're in a popular location, like NY going to LA, you can usually find several carriers who will honor the same tkt. Valid only for pass riders. Hope that actually sounds like it makes sense! |
