Default While Flying ... Animals?

I was just chatting briefly w/ my husband while he was waiting at the gate for paperwork for his flight from PVD to DTW. He learned they're transporting a penguin. My first thought was of the hockey player variety. No, a real live Antarctic bird! Neat! I've heard of dogs and cats and animals of that variety, but a penguin!? I joked w/ him that he'd have to pressurize the cargo space but wouldn't need to bother heating it!

Better a whale or penguin than allowing pets in the cabins.

Hahaha. . .

What is a pengium doing going to Detroit?!?!

Migrating for the winter? It's sense of direction must be off.

Always said that flying is for the birds.

The airline industry must be in recovery if the tickets are so cheap birds are riding on an airplane instead of flying there themselves.

I could think of a lot of punch lines to follow that information.

That is a new one to me!! Cute though!

DF has had boxes of tropical fish a few times...he is always sad when they have to let some of them off in order to put more pax on, he loves fish. haha... they've had dogs before a bunch of times too but that's nothing new. Can't wait to tell him about the penguin!

Another one that I think is really crazy is when they have donated organs on the flights...they have had an eyeball in the cockpit with them, he said it was in a huge box covered with a bunch of ice and it got first priority when they landed! They've had a human heart a few times before too...in huge containers with machinary, or also in coolers with a bunch of ice. Kinda cool...they change their call sign to "lifegaurd"

My sister is on a swim team with a kid whose dad is a delta pilot and he said he saw a penguin on a flight once, too! I don't know when it was, but he said it was a trained penguin and if you point to it and say "bang!" it would fall over and play dead! I guess it was on a leash walking around I guess. Too crazy!

that would be awsome! Lance got a labadoodle once, and they were stuck for some reason they took his cage out and put in on the tarmack under the shade of the plane, Lance still felt bad (we are talking hours) so he went in and asked if he could walk the dog.

borening story I know, but I really really want a labadoodle and he thinks they are ugly, but he really liked this one so he said maybe!

just think of what I could get if he flew with a penguin that played dead!

I would have a zoo if I could....I wonder if I could get a goat on the plane?????

I think you can get a goat on a plane if it's on a kebab...

I took my parents to a restaurant outside of Lisboa--it was called Two Kids. Some of the best food I'd have in the country, even if their decor included a lot of animal heads and skins.
