| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | so, express jet put out a displacement bid - they are 717 people overstaffed. That goes back into 2006! Right now they're trying to get pilots out with early retirement and COLA's, but they're still expecting to furlough around 400. Jim Ream has said that they would give 60 days notice before the furlough - which is expected to go into effect on Oct 1. So basically we'll know Aug 1 how this is all going to shake out. Also found out from the union that if you have a COLA and then get furloughed, you lose COLA status and all the benefits that come with it (health insurance/travel) |

| yup, they estimate around 400 furloughs but who knows..hopefully it will be less. Casey is a captain now so it will probably be an downgrade...but in any case he decided to go back to school in january and be done with the airlines! I am quite excited about that!! so good luck to all of you and hopefully things will start getting better with this industry and our economy generally. Emily, your fiance and Casey flew together a week ago or so ![]() |

| Jetgirls Member | DH is near 400 from the bottom of the list. We're holding our breath that there will be enough early outs and COLA's to keep him employed. Although unemployment will probably be MORE than what he's getting on LTD. It would be nice to have a job to return to when he is able to get his medical again... Kim

| oh yes , in there with you ladies! My DH is in that 400 count, he's in home base (IAH) but that doesn't mean he'll be safe. We got a baby on the way, due in November and I'm not sure if we'll have insurance at that time...I'm a little freaked out about whats gonna happen to us. We can't sell the house even if we wanted to, the economy stinks in AZ for the housing market and my job doesn't pay for maternity leave. Yeah, we are in quite the bind , but I'm not having a nervous breakdown yet, because I have a beautiful baby growing inside of me and I need to remain cool, calm and collective! ![]() |
