| Jetgirls Plus Member ![]() | My fiance and I try to save money on food as much as possible. I pack him food for his overnights but I have a hard time on the longer trips. I used to pack him those microwavable soup bowls but I don't anymore because they're so high in sodium! I try to give him healthy food but its hard when there's not much room to work with. The things I send the most are those fruit or applesauce cups, cans of tuna, crackers, granola bars. Any other ideas?? |

| Popcorn is usually good because there is almost always a microwave and it doesn't take up much space to pack!

| You could try making him some homemade soup and put it in a cute thermos for him. I always love making a large pot of soup that lasts for a few meals. Its a great way to eat healthy and cheap. |

| On his longer trips I would save room by packaging everything in ziplock bags. He would have one container of a few paper plates if needed. I could cram enough dinners and snacks to last him a week in one bag. I would cook the entire day before he left...... I saved myself from having to cook while he was gone, as well. |

| Sorry I guess I didn't read the first post....... Oatmeal packages and a small thing of yogurt. (he has the choice of eating them mixed together or just oatmeal) Cereal.... and he used the milk on the aircraft Sandwiches.... I would pack everything in separate bags so they would not get soggy Packages of the flavored tuna..... a few wraps Dinner would be anything I could cook with a gravy or a sauce so it would not dry out and lots of white rice that he could eat with most of the meals. Veggie sticks with a small container of PB Cheese, crackers, and a few olives a handful of berries with almonds Beef Jerky Breakfast Bars Believe it or not he would drink the slim fast in a can for breakfast That is all I can think of right now |

| Jetgirls Plus Member ![]() | Thanks everyone! I really did get some great ideas -- i usually pack the typical granola bars, pretzels, crackers, peanut butter, chips and salsa, fruit, veggies, trail mix, and he ALWAYS takes tuna. I think I'm going to try the homemade soup thing, and the rice thing is a great idea too! (does rice need to have an ice pack in the bag if its cooked? i'm thinking no but just making sure...) I'm also going to try oatmeal, my only other problem is that he's lactose intolerant so he's going to have to eat it with water mixed in and i'm not sure if he likes that or not. he says he hasnt eaten oatmeal since he was little and used to dump syrup all over it. lol... i got other ideas too but i can't think of them when i'm not looking at the post but THANKS!!! ![]() |
