| I have a question for flight attendants...is it a requirement that all lap children sit in a seat with 2 oxygen masks? I want to hear it from the horses mouth, sort of speak, since I am having a 'debate' with someone about it. Thanks, Joanna

| Jeez, I would hope so! I know on the RJ's I always have to sit on the right b/c there isn't an extra mask on the left for my lap child. Hmmm I'll be interested to hear from the FAs! Jackie

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | I can tell you in reservations it will not let us assign a seat with an infant in arms to the side without the extra o2 mask. I don't know if you can move on flight, but we can't assign those seats, the system won't let us.

This "debate" is that this person is convienced that when she flew with her lap kid she was never assigned a seat with double o2 masks...as if no one bothered to even institute that safety measure. She booked the seats online and could chose her seats herself.

| Was it a Regional Jet or a mainline flight? The mainline planes have the extra masks on both sides. If it was a RJ booked online, I could see the software not accounting for the infant in arms and the gate agent missing it. I'd be surprised if the FA didn't say something tho'. It might just be one of those insider things we know and others don't like -sit on the wing for the safest seat and right behind the wing for the smoothest ride. Jackie

More times than I can count, underage pax were assigned the exit row and parents with underage children were assigned the exit row. A FA or a pax cannot always expect customer service to assign them the correct seats (at least thats how it was at my old airline). During boarding, its also up to the FA to make sure people are in correct seats if they have lap children and/or if they meet the req. to sit in the exit row. If not, the FA needs to move them. | |

| ladies...thanks for making this more clear to me ![]() Now, what would happen if a FA didn't follow procedures and allowed a in lap child to sit in a row without the extra o2 mask (aside from the obvious where a child would be in harms way in the event the masks drop down)? I am asking this just out of sheer curiosity.
