D Just wanted to lend my support to the whole mental health professional/keeping your info private thing. I too have worked in Mental Health and for the longest time kept everything unlisted. That was until I realized that my info could be bought on the internet for $39-$99 dollars! Yikes! That's when I decided to let my large protective dog further earn his keep. Anyway, I can't believe anyone would do that. I'm very uncomfortable with the whole blacklisting thing anyway. Being from the Northeast where Unions are a fact of life, it is exactly that kind of behavior that turns me off to unions. While they certainly have their strength in advocating for workers rights, I don't like the all or nothing attitude. There is no room for individual thought -the party line is the only line and intimidation tactics like this blacklist are somehow considered okay. Last I looked this is AMERICA and everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Sorry, I've stayed quiet on this for awhile but can't stand it any longer..... ![]() Anyway, one MH prof to another, I'm sorry to hear your family's safety measure was blown out of the water this way. Jackie

I'm out of the mental health field (for now anyway), but we're only a couple of hours drive from my old job..........and it's really not hard to find if one has the address. That's what works my nerve, that unthinking/"outraged" people do something like post contact info without realizing what potential danger the innocent are being placed in. If someone wants to argue that I'm not innocent, then fine. However, our child is an innocent................any hothead that wants to throw my dh under the proverbial bus should realize that by doing so, it affects me and our child.

Totally on a sidenote here... want to really get creeped out? Try typing your name into whitepages.com . You won't believe the information they have on you (and I mean any of you) on there. Siblings names, your address, your phone number... even if it's all unlisted. It's insane.

Yep, this is a glorious country, and we are all entitled to our opinions. I don't really agree with ya on the all or nothing mentality on this issue, though. The main reason that people have a problem with GoJet is because they've lowered industry standards for EVERY pilot out there. Even your husband. Fly 70 seat jets for 50 seat pay. A new airline should have the BEST contract out there. Not the worst. Also, as stated before, GoJet took jobs from Trans States pilots. Those airplanes should be at TSA, not some alter-ego airline, created to whipsaw a pilot group. What's happening at Trans States now? They're furloughing. Who's hiring? GoJet. Or, maybe I'm wrong... and maybe it's the media that's right... just a group of "greedy pilots." |

would someone please tell me something significant about gojet? I'd never even heard of them so I did a quick search and there wasn't much out there. owned by same corp owns trans states, yes? 400something employees? how many are pilots? limited routes/market ? small regional/discount line? do they undercut fares ? are they a feeder line for another airline? why are they such a threat? why treat their pilots like lepers? please clarify a few points--I'm really curious about this war. |

yes, roz, most of my questions have not been answered in the 7 pages of post. Otherwise I would not have asked them. I went to their website and I see UnitedExpress. I see they are owned by trans states--are they blameless? If you get the time to get past the generalities "GoJet has much more than a tarnished history." GoJet took jobs from Trans States pilots. Those airplanes should be at TSA, not some alter-ego airline, created to whipsaw a pilot group" etc. If TSA owns them, why not dis TSA? I'd really like to know more. I see alot of animosity towards a group of pilots but nothing of the factual nature of why other pilots should mistreat them. What makes them lesser? So are the GJ employees all to blame? I am asking why, and since you seem to have the most interest and a definite opinion, so I thought maybe you could answer my questions. Thanks for your time. |

| Jetgirls Plus Member ![]() | http://www.alpa.org/DesktopModules/A...2081&Tabid=256 ALPA News Release I know the two links above don't answer every question but the semi beginning of the conflict is summarized in the second paragraph on the first page on the right side of the first link. Copied here: On Oct. 26, 2004, TSA management informed TSA employees of their intent to pursue another operating certificate and to create a sister carrier to fly 70-seat or larger jets. This announcement, however, came only after management had previously refused to agree with the TSA MEC to an industry-average pay rate for this larger aircraft or to apply the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement for negotiating pay rates for new equipment. As a result, TSA management blamed the MEC for preventing TSA from acquiring larger aircraft. The firing of union pilots, strike, and lawsuits all came afterward. I am not claiming to be an expert on the subject. Just trying to shed some light on how this all began. Please feel free to correct or add to the facts (nicely, of course.) |

The next major part of the story is after Gojet was formed the union & TSA pilots claimed that gojet & tsa are apart of the same company. Management claimed no because of ten million reason, including they didn't want the gojet pilots to be unionized by tsa's union. The tsa pilots & union said yes they were apart of the same company because of ten million reasons also but basically so that the senority list of the two airlines would be merged. A huge lawsuit(s)?? later http://www.nmb.gov/representation/deter2006/33n009.pdf it was ruled that tsa & gojets were two seperate companies. Right or wrong, that is how gojets became into existance. And why the two are still at war today. |

Going to correct myself, surprised that someone else hasn't already. Terminology. I don't think there was a full fledged strike. I think it was a picket protest that was formed. And lawsuits were filed on behalf of the fired union pilots but I think the issue of whether gojets and tsa are two seperate companies went through binding mediation/arbitration, not the court system. Like I said previously, I'm not an expert on the issue. I welcome any corrections or additions in the sprite of being informed and learning. |
