As for Great Lakes, they do require a contract. It's 12 or 18 months. I think that it's 18, actually. I am sure that it's subject to change. Also, it's true, their pay is terrible! Last edited by Mrs.Alchemist; 11-19-2008 at 10:23 AM. Reason: typo

While there might ALWAYS be other options, some don't have the luxury of pursuing options that take more time, or require a move (we didn't know I was going to lose my job). In general, I agree that all other options should be explored. We discussed every option to great length, and made the choice we felt was necessary. Did I come on here looking for support? Yes I did. And thus far, I've been a little hurt and dissappointed by the attacks being sent my way. Some have stood up for me and I greatly appreciate it. Please understand that this is not the "easy way out" for us by any means. DH does not have "shiny jet syndrome". However, he and I are a team-and responsible for another little person. Thus, every choice we make is as a unit, and for the entire family.

oh my! did your dh work at champion? that's the airline that my dh and i worked for. he always had to seat down during fuloughs (from FO to FE) it was a constant pita to keep going to recurrent for 2 different seats and then being on the bottom of the senority list and getting displaced to another base contstantly. i truly enjoyed the flying we did (lots of caribbean, mexico and tons of NBA, NHL and VIP flying) i do miss that!

I certainly didn't blame anyone. Danish & I went through the same situation at the same time. Both of our husbands lost their jobs at the same time. We were in the same boat.
