Default Republic Furlough??

One of our friends is in recurrent training today in IND and his class was told by the instructor that next month there will be furloughs. I thought it was kind of wrong that he would open his mouth if true. I mean why would you say that to a class?

I find that odd since they had a ton of volunteers to take voluntary leave(but couldn't award them all), willingness to drop monthly hours, willingness to drop trips(but always denied, I know from dh's experience. He tries to drop and it comes back a big NEGATIVE).

So, with all this willingness couldn't they adopt what FEd Ex would do and just give everyone a piece of the pie, just not as much? I mean, they are still going to have to pay insurance for the employees, right? So, why not keep them all active?

Well this month ends the flying for Frontier, so there are those misplaced pilots. I know they are trying to put together packages for other airlines to keep those misplaced airplanes flying too, but I haven't heard much else.

I'll discuss with the boyfriend and see I can come up with anything else for you..

I know where the airplanes are and how many will be sitting, saw Hellers podcast thing. Saw how stocks have dropped and saw how Bedford and Wexford both sold at the same time.

I just find it so hard to believe that with so many "extra" people they wouldn't want to honor again the voluntary leaves of absence or PDO"S from senior or any pilot for the matter.

Any new news would be greatly appreciated, there doesn't seem to be any on Republicpilots.org YET!

Training dept doesn't always have the inside scoop... they're the types that like to start all the rumors.

grain of salt when it comes to training dept info

I'm with Kristie on this one. The training dept is passing along rumors. So far, we have not heard anything about furloughs yet. You already know about all the voluntary stuff and, so far, that is the only thing official.

The sale of stocks by the big wigs always makes me nervous too. . .

We haven't heard anything other than the voluntary leaves...BF has been on reserve for 2 months now and he's been flying every trip! He was actually awarded a different base so now he is closer to home. He did mention the podcast this morning...where do you find that?

I'm not sure. I bet they are in the archives.

Like everyone says there, the only way to get a day off is by calling in.

Republic is currently the only airline that is overstaffed due to the Frontier displacements... Shuttle is understaffed at the moment so that is why your husband is probably not having any luck getting days off. They are planning on moving the displaced Republic pilots over to the Shuttle certificate, but maybe not until the end of the summer.
