| Hubby sent me some info a few mins ago about the companies that roll up to Republic Airways Holding. They are requesting captians and first officers to sign up for time off without pay for July 08. It is on a volunteer basis right now. Mentions that it is base specific but doesn't mention which bases. Everyone please keep your hands and feet inside the car. Make sure your lap belt is securely fastened. The roller coaster ride is about to begin (for my family). Last edited by katbuad; 06-05-2008 at 11:53 AM. |

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | Sending you best wishes pixie dust! So, I'm too young to recall, but how did the aviation industry react to the oil crisis of the 1970s? Is the current reaction commensurate w/ what happened then? Worse? More mild? Buckle up for the ride, but more importantly, like Kristie mentioned, stay on the ride right now if you can! |

| Wow! That surprises me, didn't Republic just have over a 20% jump in traffic? I hate to hear this...good luck. My DH was with Republic for 7 yrs.

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | I was reading over on JC how they were wondering how CHQ/Republis was not being affected, and again, just goes to show that in a blink of an eye, it all changes... On the topic of furloughs and such, how/where do they start? Do they automatically begin with pilots or what? Is there a formal process in which they cut jobs? Does it happen in one day that they cut?

| Jetgirls Plus Member ![]() | Well, first they'll start with the voluntary leaves, if they don't get people to just do it, they'll have to just force them to. A lot of senior people are taking it. HUbby is actually considering taking time off.

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | Speaking with BF, he doesn't seem too worried...(I mean, I'm off my rocker!) but he has been awarded the Greensboro bases in NC, so that means he is home more often...I just don't know, I've come to the point to not hold-my-breathe regarding the airlines it changes day-to-day... ![]()
