Ian said he gave excellent advice. (and I think Ian's going to post a link here, since he knows where it is.)
My DH says he will look for a job outside of aviation if he gets furloughed again...or at least thats what he said 3 years ago when he got furloughed. LOL

I also added to that post about what my DH did when he got furloughed. My reply isn't as good as the one that got posted here though.

Oh, and I've also been thinking more and more about becoming a professional Photographer. I'm more into the fine are type stuff (flowers, scenic, nature, buildings......) which I'm not sure will bring in much money, but any money is better than nothing right? I'm still trying to get better at portrait type photography, so maybe down the road, I'll be able to do that professionaly. I really think I need to start getting on the ball and try selling my stuff to see if anyone would actually want to buy it and see if being a professional photog is a reality rather than a dream.
Well I'm happy for both of you that you started a plan. We are also thinking about moving out of state but having a 3yr old an one on the way makes it harder to think abt moving since we have a big family here so basically our support team is here in So Cal. If we move and hubby is out all the time, I will go crazy by myself! What do I do?
In my honest opinion (and this is just my .02) You do what you have to do for you and your immediate family. My hubby and I were born and raised in Northern California and moved away from "home" over 7 years ago. We moved with two very little ones and have added two more little ones since our departure. Both sides of our family still live there and of course some dear friends, but you couldn't pay me to move back. (Not that I could afford to move back anyway ). I have learned with 5 moves in the last 6 years- that you can make a "home" anywhere. Good Luck!

Hey there!
No, we're pretty new to the commercial side of it. DH was a flight instructor for a few years and then was a freight pilot before interviewing w/ Air Wisconsin 2 years ago.

We have already discussed the what ifs.
If his airline folds then he is out of this industry for good. I think SWA is in pretty good shape so I doubt it happen.
I am already looking into an alternative teaching credential through UGA. I am going to start subbing this fall.
We paid off our house during his deployment and our only debt his his new Altima. We are going to start paying that down.
So that is our plan for now. Hopefully our economy will improve.

Yeah... we don't really have any ties to California either... Except that we love the weather, and I have a good job... It just doesn't make any sense for us to move away from my job when my Hubby's a first year FO.... Sometimes I think that we are insane to pay SO MUCH for a one bedroom apartment that we are never in... Sigh... Maybe *I* should commute to work???

I guess you are right anywhere we go as long as we have our kids and our husband we should be fine. Maybe we can try moving once our youngest kid turns 3 or 4. Thanks for input!
