| News about the economy and the airline industry are making us more & more cautious, so we sat down together and made a real, on paper budget for the first time. It’s amazing where the money really goes! Now we're squeezing money out wherever we can. Any “extra” money we can find we’re putting in an emergency account. My goal is to get 6 months living expenses set aside. DH thinks this is too conservative. He thinks 3 months will suffice. Either way, if something happens, we want to cover our house payment and health care until we could get back on our feet. |

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | DF also has a friend who is leaving XJet later this summer but is willing to base trade so that John can work more (he'd be going from EWR on reserve to CLE as a relief line holder, almost hardline) so John would be able to bring in an extra $1000-$1500/mo (hopefully). Crashpads are also cheaper in CLE but the commute blows from SLC. THere's only one direct flight at 10am the day before on SkW (almost shouldn't ride them on principle...) otherwise, it's a 2 legger bleh... |

| Member | I would love to say we have saved enough to cover for a couple of months but having a mortgage here in CA is ridiculous. It feels like we are both working just to pay our house. So having savings set aside is a luxury here. My husband is on his 3rd yr in Skywest but he's still on reserve so it's really not helping us. Oh well, we have to figure out another way to get extra cash. |

| Member | Well I'm happy for both of you that you started a plan. We are also thinking about moving out of state but having a 3yr old an one on the way makes it harder to think abt moving since we have a big family here so basically our support team is here in So Cal. If we move and hubby is out all the time, I will go crazy by myself! What do I do? |

| My dh and I left Hollywood Florida about 6 years ago. We wanted a bigger house and more privacy and a little bit of land. So we moved to Tennessee, seriously out in the boonies, but we got a nice, well sort of nice, it was a fixer uper, but it has 4 bedrooms, 2 baths and more storage than I could ever fill up. We also have 5 acres and a 2 acre pond, a barn and a waterfall. All for less than 100,000 dollars. Sounded great then, but now with the gas prices...well, you can imagine what our gas expense is. But with the housing market the way it is, we're stuck. There's houses here that have been for sale over a year. And with gas the way it is, people are wanting to move closer to the city, not further away. Our only saving grace is how little we paid for the place. Selling for us is not an option. We either ride it out and hope gas drops back down, or walk away.
