| we just finished with 1st year pay! we should have just deposited our last crapy check! I would like to start pulling money from our checks and haveing them deposited into a saving account seprate from the checking. I started buying US saving bonds that come straight from my check, I don't even notice that it is gone, however if it hits the bank account its gone. However, we have HUGH student loans, for both of us, and some big medical bills that we are paying off. So it itsn't going to be much of a savings. We are scheduled to take over the ranch in WY in 10 yrs. His parents have been hinting that they would like to get out of it sooner. So I guess if it totally went to pot, we would head out there and become ranchers! Not quite how I would want to spend the rest of my 30's and fourties. but it would more than pay the bills. I know ranching doesn't sound too much stabler than avaition, but the minning in WY is hugh, and they have been mining methane of the place, and it is bring hugh money to the ranch.

| Jetgirls Ol' School Member | I try not to make it seem like i'm frantic, but I am! BF is just starting out at Republic, I finished school and working part-timish at the airport and NOT bringing in anything more than what covers my car loan, depts, and emergency expenses... (went to the dentist the other day, I don't have dental insurance and paid out-of-pocket, $700 for 2 fillings and 2 that had to be replaced, ouch, I was putting it off, and BF said I just needed to go because they aren't going to get better) I wont' have a 'real' salary job until next august, I will be entering a medical program in august that lasts a year, and so i'll just be working weekends, so that is what really scares the daylights out of me... We have a savings account that we both try to contribute too, but it's not growing much... so really, FO pay and part-time pay, has me stressing out,but we are doing the best we can...but it is putting pressure in the house... ![]()

| Are any of them (the pilots) considering non-aviation jobs in the meantime? One thing that might help prepare for a furlough is to go to JC, or have the pilots go to JC, and look for Zap Brannigan's post on how he dealt with all his furloughs. Ian said he gave excellent advice. (and I think Ian's going to post a link here, since he knows where it is.)
