| Hi, My corporate pilot husband is having a problem with his chief pilot. The guy says he tips the line guys when they travel to different airports, and he puts it on his expense account. Hubby is busy doing copilot thingies, and doesn't get out of the aircraft until after these supposed tips are handed out. This guy has integrity problems, and has lied about various issues before (all of which HR is aware of). So the question is- DO pilots ALWAYS tip line guys, and how much. Obviously servicing the commode and placing jet in the hangar would "cost" more? What if nothing is done- just a touch and go sort of stop? I would appreciate replies from the ladies if they have insight! (and yes, I'm aware that there are spouses of lady pilots in here too- but it IS called JetGIRLS...:p Thank you! |

| You might want to start this as a new thread, you'll get more responses that way. My DH never flew corporate, but he did work as a line guy for a few years. I don't think anyone ever tipped him. I'll ask him when I talk to him later this afternoon. I'm curious... are you trying to catch this CP in a lie? Or was it more of a curious question? That CP sounds like a real loser, but what he puts on his expense account is between him and the company. If your DH is looking to get him fired, be VERY, VERY careful. CP's have a lot of pull at most companies and if he's not fired, he could find a way to fire your DH for ratting him out. My H's CP is a real jerk too and has done some less than honorable things as well. When my DH talked to some other pilots about going to the owner with his issue, it got back to the CP. The CP called him and basically warned him he'd lose his job if he did. Hopefully some of the ladies here who are married to corporate pilots can shed some light on this for you!! And welcome, btw!!!! |

I'm new to using these "threaded" discussions, so yes, I probably should have just started a new one :p Basically, Ireally was curious about whether anyone on a corporate jet really does tip the linemen. But yes, the CP is probably eventually going to get fired, and not because of anything my husband does about it...it'll just happen. (nodding sagely) This CP is on thin ice due to a few incidents already, so no further action required of the co-pilot ![]() I was just going to add this particular thing in to the file, so to speak. I'd never heard of a corporate pilot getting off a company jet and tipping, but then, he's only been a corp pilot for like...five seconds ![]() Anyway............ Have a great evening, ya'll! |

| My DH was a line guy many years ago and he said the only time he tipped by a pilot is if he drove them to their hotel or out to eat. Other than that, he never got a tip. |

| my husband is a corporate pilot and he said they never tip line guys. if he goes to mexico, then yes, however he's found that usually the passengers tip the line guys when they help them with their baggage and such.
